So, I have an opportunity to go to Cuba as part of an educational exchange. Part of the trip takes place over the Thanksgiving holiday. It will probably be the last time I will ever get a chance to go while Fidel is alive. What some of you might not know is travel to Cuba by U.S. citizens is prohibited by the State Department except for educational exhanges, such as the one I have an opportunity to join. So it will cost several grand and I have to get to and from Cancun on my own. For those 24 people who will make up the maximum number of the group will witness a Castro Cuba. In a short time he will be dead, Cuba will open up and it will not be the same. Except there is a slight problem . . . The GF has been inviting people to Thanksgiving dinner for weeks now and she would appreciate if I held off on going because she wants to host Thanksgiving for everyone this year. God-mother-fucking-damnit-shit-bitch-cunt (GMFDSBC). It isn't like these kind of trips happen all the time. If I don't go, I'll never go and Cuba will be different. GMFDSBC. She wants to go on a vacation with me, but doesn't want to go to Cuba because of this dinner she's throwing. This is the first that I have heard of it and I really don't care. Except, I get the impression that if I do go, I will never hear the end of it. Ever. GMFDSBC. So, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will pass me by so I can be on hand to pass the fucking cranberry sauce. GMFDSBC. Yeah, yeah, I can go and just tell her to go fuck herself. I haven't taken a "vacation" for like nine years. I have over four and a half months of vacation coming to me that I can't really use for more than a few days at a time. And she wants to have some of that time spent with her. GMFDSBC. So, I can go and be miserable afterwards or not go and well, not go. GMFDSBC. You should be more like Cantrip. Go for Cuba, bro. If you can't make it, there are other ways of getting in. Sure, its not allowed, but it doesn't stop people from going. Fly through a third country. How serious a relationship are we talkin about. If it's just a temporary GF those can be replaced easily. You should just go and not even think twice about it.
However if this is a seriuos relationship and you care a great deal for her then its a different story. You should give her the explaination you gave us and tell her that you understand the importance of thanksgiving and family and all that shit but it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you would like to share this very special trip with her. kinda turn things around cause TG comes around every fuckin year but a trip like this is once in a lifetime. She will feel guilty and go with you. If she says she won't go but its OK for you to go that's also OK. If she says NO then Fuck it just go anyway. Ah, now she's okay with me going, "Get you out of my hair for a week." Right. Don't know what that is all about. Found out that there is enough room for me, but I may have a conflict. Have to get to Cancun at least one day before, but that will conflict with a preexisting obligation. So, I may not go for a multitude of reasons. Yes, I'm a pussy. However, I think I might spend the dough I am saving by not going on a kick ass video card and build a gaming rig around it. Though, I still have not ruled out bailing on the trip. I still may go. It depends on whether I can figure out what she's planning. I'm sure it's some passive-aggressive time bomb in the making. That will only scream for a ten-fold passive-aggressive response from me. Yeah, you never want to get into a pissing match with Cantrip, especially if you are having sexual relations with him. Will keep you posted on whether I end up going or not.
