I'm in the latter stages of the flu that's going around. This means that I'm coughing up what look like bits of lung and I swear my sinuses are falling out too.
Coughing at work makes people nervous, so I went to the store and bought a 12 ounce (355 ml for the Eurotrash) bottle of Robitussin DM. Yes, DM for Death Match for phlegm. It's a cough suppressant, so I cough less, and an expectorant, which means when I do cough, I expel larger bits of lung. Your doctor would describe that as a more productive cough. I just say it makes for more satisfying-sized phlegm. Somehow there's more weight in the Kleenex when I'm done. Makes me happy.
Anyway, if you have a cold get some of that stuff. It is a non-drowsy formula. If you need something to make you sleep better, take Nyquil - the real stuff, not the store brand. You'll wake up like you've slept all night.
Anyway, I threw out the little cup which came with the Robitussin and just drink it out of the bottle. I know it says to take it every four hours, but in like two and a half to three hours I'm coughing up a lung again. So I just take a swig of the stuff and it calms me right down.
In between hits I drink hot tea, which takes away the scratchy feeling in my throat.
So far I'm the only one in the office who has caught the flu. Coincidentally, I'm the only one in the office who refused a free in-office flu shot. You do know that the government puts mind-control nanobots in the flu vaccine . . . You should be more like Cantrip.  Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ." i was scheduled to receive a flu shot, but then for some reason we never got around to doing at my work...havent caught the flu yet. I just got some nasty fever/strep throat thing and I couldnt sleep at all the first night, I took the last bit of real Nyquil we had, and went right to bed. The next day I went to the store and just picked up some offbrand shit and when I used it, it took me ~40 minutes to fall asleep and I woke up 3 times in the night.
