Meh... The average computer user doesn't need something fast, and XP is plenty sufficient. Give vista time, stick with XP till then we have a long time before XP updates stop.

Why not have the best of everything, I have 3 different OS's on my current rig. Ubuntu, Windows XP Pro (my own hacked out version), and Vista Ultra 64. You know the OS I use the most, XP, not that many things for Ubuntu or Vista yet but will be soon. Hell, I can run Vista faster through Ubuntu then Vista can run by itself, hows that for a mind melter.

The actual real life timeframe for these occurences is unknown at this time. Sometimes it happens more than once in a day and during other periods it would be more like for hell to freeze over than anything actuallly getting done. Currently we are in a time frame where it would seem that there would be more of a chance of Dragon getting a girlfriend as far fetched as that might be than there would be of anything actually happening here. -YourAimSucks -Reaper o'Blood -{pDs} Bloodhands

I have vista and xp running on 2 different machines. the xp machine has a faster processor (both single core), but slightly less RAM. my vista unit (laptop) boots a bit slower (about 30 seconds). but once it boots up it runs faster then the xp machine. i think vista is pretty much nicer is every way then xp minus the longer boot time. but i'm not complaining because it has so many more features to load up at the boot that i expect it to take longer. i'm not sure why you use xp over vista, my vista machine runs everything my xp machine does. i know there weren't very many drivers for everything when vista launched, but its been a while now since the launch, and just about everything has a vista driver or vista build for it. i don't really see a drop or a noticable performance difference when i play games in my vista machine either, so maybe you just need to configure your vista machine proporly so it doesn't such your resoruces when it doesn't need to. it takes a bit of time, but vista is capable of running a lot better then xp if you know what your doing, i guess the problem is that most people don't, so vista got a bad rep.

I know how to set up vista, xp, and ubutnu just fine, what I can't do is argue with the 3DMark06 scores between them. Keep in mind, I have 3 bootable operating systems on this computer so everything has the same performance, or you would think. My sys specs: PSU: Ultra 1600w X-3 CPU: AMD X-2 3800 @3.0GHz (on water cooling) RAM: 2 GB's of G-Skill 2-3-2-5 DDR600 @3.1v GPU's: Twin eVGA 7900 GT KO Superclocked 256mb cards (620/1500) MoBo: DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR HDD's: 2 74GB Raptor's in RAID 0 and 1 750GB WD 7.2k in RAID 1 Cooling: 1 CPU water cooler by Cool It ( Freezone) Case: Thermaltake Armour (Black w/UV lighting) The rest is irrelevant. 3DMark06 Scores: XP Pro 32bit edition: 9839 Vista Ultra 64bit edition: 8320 Ubutnu 32 and 64(didn't make a difference): 12892 So you can see, my Ubutnu runs everything faster, but when I emulate Vista through Ubutnu I get a score thats rather interesting. 3DMark06 Score emulated through Ubutnu: Vista Ultra 64: 9920 XP Pro 32: 10722 Yes, Ubutnu can emulate the operating systems faster than the operating systems can run themselves. Took me forever to get all these together so I hope you enjoy.
