So you know the saying "Dont let the bed bugs bite?" Well the fucking are and they are p0wning me.

Its been two-three weeks now that I wake up with 2-3 new bites per nite. I really want this fixed. I live in an apartment with 3 other guys (2 bed) and one person from each room is getting the bites. My apartment manager says the apartment owner will not pay for the pest control service to come out and I am afraid of the costs.

anyways, anyone else ever dealt with these fuckers? or know the legalites of what apartment owners are supposed to pay for?

Never had the problem but i saw on the discovery channel that to get rid of them clean all sheets and anything that has come into contact with your bed and best thing to do is to rid yourself of the mattress but a thourough cleaning MIGHT kill them off.

Bed bugs are a bitch to get rid of so I would call a pest control person while you get all your personal affects cleaned up.

Hope I helped

You will not get rid of them without a professional. Seriously. If you live in an apartment and the owner won't pay you and as many other people who live in the owners property as you can get together should all chip in a few bucks and hire a lawyer, state law may require them to pay, or if you have renters insurance it should cover it (if you dont have renters insurance, GET IT). If its a big building start going door to door, I guarantee you that if the owner starts getting calls like "HOLY FUCK THERE IS A BEDBUG OUTBREAK IN THE APARTMENT NEXT TO ME" he will get the message and deal with it. Your neighbors might think you are dirty, but who gives a fuck what they think, right?

Bed bugs are a fucking public health threat, they spread like crazy and are a bitch to get rid of. They get inside of everything, furniture, clothing, computers, the fucking picture frames on the walls. It is totally an epic process to eliminate them. I fortunately have never had them, but in college there was an outbreak that spread from a few rooms in one building to over 100 rooms in multiple buildings before they got a handle on it, entire floors were quarantined, thousands of dollars of furniture and clothing was thrown out, the only way to clean computers was to literally bake them in a special oven that was just hot enough to not quite melt the machine but still kill the bedbug eggs. If you don't get rid of them you will spread them, they get on your clothes and body and then everywhere you go you leave some of them behind. If you sleep in someone else's bed then odds are they will get them too, if you sit in a room then you could infect that room too, especially if people are still in it in the dark (like a movie theater, or maybe a classroom).  The reason it seems like only 1 person per room is getting bit is because the other person isn't as allergic to the bed bugs, I guarantee you they are getting bitten they just don't have the same physiological reaction (given enough time they may develop it though). If its cold where you live you can at least slow them down and kill the currently living ones by opening the windows and turning the heat off, but they will come back as soon as conditions return to a livable environment for them because their eggs are so tough and they get down into cracks and stuff.

bed bugs.... i managed to bring a little bugger back from Oz. lucky i knew what they were before they became a serious problem but they are very fucking hard to get rid of. i was really unlucky too, the guys i were travelling with didn't seem to pick them, yet i was the neat freak out of the group...

you're basically fucked, it takes a lot of time and energy to get rid of them and they can lay dormant for over 18 months, so just sleeping elsewhere for a few weeks wont do any good.

any clutter or junk in your room tidy up and get rid of it. clutter gives them more sports too hide. washing over 50 degrees celcius will kill them if they are in any materials or that.  so will being put in the dryer at its hottest setting for around 30 mins. anything that can't be washed or dried should go into the freezer for a few days, and one that goes to -20 celcius. typically you'd have to get rid of the matress and bedbox, and check behind any headboard. they can also climb up walls so isolate your bed from surrounding walls.

and for the love of God be extra fucking careful if you're going anywhere. leave luggage outside til you can wash all the contents

yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

3 dudes... 2 beds.....

Interesting.

Anyway the situation depends on if your renters agreement covers this kind of stuff.

Otherwise call a pest control service and get a price quote/

Oh if you decide to get the pest control in yourself make sure you are paying for them to eliminate the problem, not per spraying...
and find out what chemicals they will use. bed bugs are weird in that practically every line is immune to a certain pesticide... you can sort out a problem with one chemical that have next to no effect on the house on the next street. it pays to do your research on the more effective types.
