Is he seriously the only "admin" that has access to the servers themselves?

No I know he does. In theory everyone who donates (not me yet) owns a little piece though so its kind of a disservice to them if something goes boom and he's not around to bring them back online. I didn't know there was another guy who has access if need be - thanks llenta.

Actually, people donate for reserverd slots, not partial ownership. And it's just that... donation. No one is required to pay to play. The bills go to WDF's house and get paid by WDF.
The problem with allowing other people access to our servers in the past has caused more problems than not. Limiting access prevents a plethora of problems. The servers get updated usually right away. If having to wait is a problem for you then I suggest you play on another server until it is resolved. You also have to allow that due to the holidays people, including WDF, have other priorities and responsibilities.

No I'm only using "partial ownership" as kinda an analogy - if I donate some money its probably going to pay the server bills so then IN THEORY I have some interest in how it gets run. I know you don't have to pay or donate at all if you don't want - I'm just saying that maybe its a good idea to have a couple of people who are trusted with real admin rights on the server, to restart it, update it, etc. Of course the guy that ultimately writes the checks gets to choose what happens - I'm not saying that all the moderators on these servers should have server admin rights.

WDF ownes the servers and he always has. That's right back when just about every server we had was dead and he was not getting a penny in donations he paid to keep em up and keep the clan together. Just because people donate 5 bux for a reserved slot that does not make em owners of anything. They pay so they don't have to stand in line like everyone else. {pDs}BelligerentPimp wrote: No using the word "fucktard" unless you are refering to TonyRWC or Youngripark.j2. Donating for a reserved slot isn't really a donation, since you are paying and getting something in return for it.
But that aside, it still doesn't give players (even if they are also payers) any kind of ownership interest or stake in how things are run. Consider any other pay service on another site... if you pay for a Fileplanet subscription that gets you access to exclusive demos and faster servers, does that mean you can tell Fileplanet in any way how to run their site or servers? Of course not. Do you have more influence than someone that doesn't pay? Possibly, but that extra influence is limited to how the organization's (or in this case, WDF?'s) decision will affect your decision to continue to subscribe. If Fileplanet makes a horrible decision that makes you never want to go back, that's all you can do: take your dollars and walk elsewhere.
By the same token, any site (or TF2 server) interested in retaining customers/players will want to consider the opinions of all players, not just those who pay. It's something I'd say WDF? does rather well, actually. Do the opinions of those who "donated" for a reserved slot count for more than the ordinary, non-paying schmo? That's up to WDF? to decide. Time to put out the fire. Donations are donations. The servers come as is. I assume you are fairly new, but my track record is incredibly high in terms of updates and maintaining this place. I've been moving, working my ass off, and all around exhausted, and simply have not had the time to focus my entire attention to the servers. I have stated numerous times that I don't sell/rent reserved slots. It's simply a way of saying thanks for the donations. It's an added gift. It's not a right. There is no partial ownership of anything. I own it. You guys donate to assist me in keeping these servers alive. It's as simple as that. I'm only human and can only do so much. I'm sorry you are disappointed. With that said, once we move hosts, there will be a couple others with access to the machine. That should be happening in January. Until then, it's just me and Sirus. The reason for not letting others on the box is that we also run business stuff off of it. Allowing others access, no matter what level of trust we have, can prove to be a bad idea if something were to go wrong if we're not around to watch. I thank you for your patience. If you feel that I've misled you in terms of your donation, please accept my apology and simply don't donate in the future. I want to make sure everyone is happy.

I'm not trying to tell anyone how the servers should be run - I was just kinda sad when the server update broke the servers and I thought it would be a few days or a week before they got updated.
I'm STILL not saying there's "partial ownership," but I think that anyone who plays should at least have their opinion heard - that's all I'm saying. If I pay for a FP subscription and they do something lame - I can write them a nastygram and say "this is dumb i think it should be like this" (maybe with better English) they'll probably take it into consideration especially if some other people voice the same opinion.
Not disappointed at all - you got the update done quickly and it didn't take nearly as long as I thought it might. I didn't know that you ran anything other than the TF2 servers on the boxes so not allowing others access to the rest of the services is a perfect reason.
