Is there an alternative to the microsoft office powerpoint program? I want to use it as an aid in a presentation, but power point always looks tacky.

I don't know whether just to mess around with the '07 version or what. But i heard somewhere that there was some alternatives that may be better than the MS version? or did i hear wrongly? I tried googling for it but didnt see what I wanted.

thanks for any help.

Open Office Impress. you can download the suite for free as it's open source software.

Adobe acrobat can be used for presentations as well i think, i've never tried myself.
yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

Openoffice.org, the free alternative to MS Office has a PowerPoint-type presentation called Impress:

http://www.openoffice.org/product/impress.html

Openoffice.org has all the programs that MS Office has.  Though I haven't checked, I think you can import PowerPoint presentations into it.  So if you don't want to pay $$$ for your Word or Draw or Excel programs, get Openoffice.org.  It's called Openoffice.org because Openoffice was already trademarked.

Will run in Linux as well.

A friend made a presentation with flash and it looked nice. Of course you have to know the tool and start from scratch.
