When I start up some of my slightly Older games their default resolution is lower than my monitor can display, so it does not show up and I ca not change it to a higher resolution beacuase it wont show up in the first place. How do I fix this, Is it possiable to run the Games in a window first? Quote:Posting related image due to my inability to formulate an intelligent response. BlooDz wrote:i cant type good im stupid

I have tried it, It did not work
I also tried,
"C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\gta-vc.exe-w"
"C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\gta-vc.exe""-w"
And I tried them in the "Start in:" Box
Adding "-w" to a Steam game shortcut, does not work, but it does not come up with any errors

i just saw this, and thought i could help. adding the little -w or -a to shortcuts or whatnot can be a pain in the ass, cause nobody tells you how to do it RIGHT. after fighting with this myself while i was trying to get two instances of prime95 up and running, i finally found what i was doing wrong. put a space between the shortcuts target and the "-w" or "-a" (the "-a" will make it run a separate instance of the program). so liek this: "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\gta-vc.exe" -w and then it should open up in windowed mode. Try changing your desktop resolution. Sometimes it will launch a lower resolution with the game that won't display. Also, there is a config file in the program files that has your settings, you can tweak the resolution so that it will display that when it launches. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name Jessica343: so I can get heals {pDs} Lead Salad: oh damn good idea {pDs} Lead Salad has changed their name to {pDs} Lead Salad (is a girl) Jessica343: hahah

You can also try running it in compatibility mode, there's a tab for that when you right click -> properties. One of the options is to run in compatibility mode for different operating systems, another is to run in 600X400 Res. There are some other things in there too, but I don't know what they all do. Still did not work, I think it might be beacause the game is not desinged to work in Windowed mode, I also tried adding this "-w 800 -h 600" so it would launch in that resolution, Still didnt work :(

Yeah, but this can sometimes be hard to find for each game

This is still to low for my Monitor to display, the lowest it can display is 800x600 Quote:Posting related image due to my inability to formulate an intelligent response. BlooDz wrote:i cant type good im stupid

Look in the game directory for a file ending in .ini
It is an initialization file and will have all the game start up settings (In most cases).
You should see a line in it that will list game screen resolutions and other stuff.
Or perhaps a line that will be "Window(ed)=0" or "FullScreen=1" or something. Just change that to what you want. 0 is no or off, and 1 is yes or on. If you support John McCain and/or George W. I found a fix for this, If anyone else is getting this problem and If your monitor has a secondary VGA in connector on it, connect it to the VGA out connector on the graphics card, If the graphics only has one or two digital connectors, use the Digital to VGA adaptor, one should of came with the card. Switch the monitor to RGB/VGA mode, launch the games then change the resolution to something higher, Then you can switch back to digital, as the RGB mode usaualy looks blurry. Replace your current monitor with a Lite-Brite.
Problem Solved.
