Barack wrote that speech himself over three days, and told no one of it except a few of his top advisors. What a fuckin' badass. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....

and not fuck up the economy any more. which is where i feel all three candidates fail on. I want someone who preaches something worth acting on, actually, and I think Obama fits the bill. I'd rather try to change the country for the better and fail than stay a course that leads nowhere. And the president, contrary to popular belief, has very little power over the economy, one way or another. It's not Bush's fault we're in a recession. It wasn't Clinton's leadership that caused a surplus. It's just economics, and the only institution in our country with any real power over it is the Fed, and even they act mostly on best guesses.

Actually, the president has the power and precedence to force (to some extent) congress to do his bidding. You can't tell me a war costing billions of dollars per WEEK doesn't affect the economy. The two are rather strongly tied together. There's a reason we have the term for "reaganomics." Spending bills, etc. are approved, forced through, etc. regularly. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....

In what part of the speech is he being a "douche?"
The speech is based around defending himself from the reverend, true. But he turned it into something worth talking about, instead of simply dismissing all the actions that his supporters do.
Jeremiah Wright is not a lunatic, nor does he only represent 'Black America' whether you agree with him or not, his arguements make sense. I think the media has gone out of their way to make him look like some kind of crazy person.
Loved the speech. TEAM APARTMENT: No one rocks quite as hard as we do. Dick Cheney's Mechanical Heart wrote:the flying spaghetti monster skullfucked Bob's corpse. Lead Salad wrote:My ePenis is 10 feet long! WDF wrote:A pair in douchbaggery.

lol, time to put up or shut up. Or we can all just make baseless arguments for either side, unhindered by the fact that statements are generally only validated when the opinionated isn't a complete douchebag. HolyJaw, that went too far, shame on you. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....
