hey guys and gals,
Mr. crawdad here, so yesterday I sat down with my wife so she could sign up for her own steam acct. We both realize that having both of us playing under the same name is confusing so we thought we could clear up any mistaken identity this way. The problem we ran into we can't activate tf2 on her account because our copy is registered under my acct. Do you guys know anyway around this beside purchasing tf2 again? Or should she just change the name every time she is playing?
My second tf2 question revolves around connecting to the tempest servers (or any servers for that matter) with two computers from my place. I had a friend over and he tried to connect to the tempest server that I was already connected to, and of course he got some response that he was unable to connect. Now we both have unique IP addresses, is this an issue with my ISP or my router? I know others have been able to do this, so why can't I? Any suggestions what I should try?

You will have to Re-Buy TF2 for a different account, No way around it. Quote:Posting related image due to my inability to formulate an intelligent response. BlooDz wrote:i cant type good im stupid

Give crawdad the console command to change the name in game

You can't have the same game having the same CD key on 2 seperate computers. You have to buy a 2nd copy overall. You can now get TF2 in a stand alone version. For the internet thing someone else is gonna have to answer it cause I still have internet issues myself that im still trying to figure out. Truthfully I know other people have had problems trying to connect at least 2 computers in their home to any server in the past. crawdad wrote:I guess I was not clear, both accounts will be on the SAME computer. we know. when you install a game that runs through steam, the rights to play that game are connected to the account and not the computer. For example, I could go to my friend's house, log onto steam from there, install a game that I have bought the rights to, and play from there. But as soon as I log out, that game is unplayable. If your wife registers a separate account, you will have to re-buy the game for her to play on it. You're better off just switching names manually every time, unfortunately. Safety + Peace

Your best bet is to change it via console.
changeinfo Ms.Crawdad[R]
Put that into console and I think it'll be all good.

Isn't it possible to purchase another account for like $10. Or am I high right now. You should be more like Cantrip. Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ." GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit." Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. " WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore." GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD" llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!" Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

You are "almost" high... You, know ...that "its my first time on drugs and i think i feel it" type of high.
Valve will be releasing the orange box games individually soon (April 9th)...but I think they will be 15-20 bucks each.
As far as your friend playing...this maybe a stupid question...but was he trying to play off your account? Because steam will detect the two accounts online and block the second one trying to connect. Other than that..if he is using his own steam account and own copy of HL2and TF2...there should be no issue. As long as your router is assigning ip's correctly. Quote:

giller,
my friend does have his own account, and I thought the IP thing might be the issue but both computers had a different address. He could connect to other servers just not the one I was on. It seemed strange to me so I thought I'd ask here, maybe someone else had had the same issue.

I know what you are talking about Crawdad, at random times when trigot connects to a game i am in, it disconnects us both. This doesnt happen all the time, what we have to do is restart the router, dunno what that does really i just know it works and then we can both connect to the same server.
