go 64 as long as you feel like spending the extra money or you can get around that somehow.

Unless you are running a server, why spend the extra money. Plus you ahve to deal with windows vista unless you dont mind running a NT window OS. I dont think it's going to give you a significant advantage in gaming...if you are doing other system intensive things...well it just depends...but if you are like most ppl and just push your computer for gaming, well I don't think its that big of a deal. Other ppl might disagree...im sure TF2 loads .003 seconds faster or some shit, but is that worth the cost of 64 bit vista (if you are buying it) or is it worth actually using vista (which sucks...even if its pirated) Quote:

All but my main gaming computer run XP pro 64 or OS X. I haven't found any driver compatibility problems yet. I have a MSDN license so it doesn't cost me anything extra though. The only reason I haven't switch my main over yet is that I am too lazy to reinstall without a good reason like swapping motherboards. 64-bit has an advantage for me because almost all of my computers run WCG, a distributed computing application, 24/7. IMO if you are buying a new OS go 64 even if it is just for the ability to address 4 gb of ram.

IIRC dx10 is only available on 64-bit systems

news to me. Vista32bit runs it fine i hear... the only issue is the RAM cap, which is more a long term concern unless you're doing serious graphic design shit. yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

Nope, DX10 is fine on 32-bit vista. The thing to remember is that you need home premium or better for DX10, it's not in Home Basic IIRC.

There is already an update that fixes the ram recognition of Vista 32.
I was having problems with it only see in 3G when in fact I had 4G... But now it recognizes all 4G.

Thanks for the info just to have more than 3 GB of ram might be worth it, but going to Vista i will try to avoid that.
XP PRO 64-bit if i can find it. Anyone know where to get it {pDs} Muffalopadus [DI]: I'm running around throwing dildos at people naked while riding a unicicle Well, Star Wars Galaxies got into a massive head on collision with a truck carrying gasoline, causing a massive explosion. The RAM issue on 32 bit vista (or 32 bit anything, for that matter) is that 4GB is the maximum amount of memory you can ever utilize. So if you have 8GB RAM, bet 64 bit. Otherwise, you probably don't need it. TEAM APARTMENT: No one rocks quite as hard as we do. Dick Cheney's Mechanical Heart wrote:the flying spaghetti monster skullfucked Bob's corpse. I'm honestly not understanding the anti-Vista argument anymore. I mean.. it sucks in general because it's Microsoft, but compared to XP, I don't see XP having any advantage. I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64-bit and a 8800 video card (which isn't that expensive) and I'm running Crysis at 1920x1200, high settings, and it runs perfectly smooth. If it can do that... I don't get what the issue is.

This is what people should think like. I've been running Vista since the day it came out. I get less error messages than XP, and I've never, never never found any bugs or driver incompatibility. Throw your 13 year old deskjet away.
For all the Mac users, OS 10.5 requires about the same system specs as Vista. OS 10.5 is not bad. The 2 take more power, because as technology advances, so do the hardware requirements.
And @ Terminator: 64 bit Operating system basically means faster computer, and more memory if you want it.
