My crappy-ass computer's CPU keeps overheating. All the fans are working normally. And since my BIOS doesn't have an option to manually lower the clock speed, can anyone name a free (Windows, lol) program that'll set my 2003 Athlon to rest? Oh, and this also means me no TF2 for long time. Win Cookies Awarded: 7 (bawwwwww)

New Wolfdale's on pre-order and I don't have a motherboard for my new computer. Canadian electronics stores suck. If I'm lucky, the best game I might be able to load is the original Counter-Strike. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYWin Cookies Awarded: 7 (bawwwwww)

MOAR COOLING FANS! And try newegg.com. They deliver to northern NAFTA territory. EDIT: Are you sure the CPU fan is rated for your Athlon speed? And did you use thermal paste? You should be more like Cantrip. Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ." GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit." Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. " WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore." GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD" llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!" Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

The only new parts (on this machine) are an extra gig of RAM, a new self-contained power supply and a new Geforce. And we NAFTA because for once we have a deal that works in our favor. Remember the SDI? Win Cookies Awarded: 7 (bawwwwww)

Why are you overheating? What are your temps? What type of thermal paste is on your cpu and are you sure it's applied correctly? How many fans do you have and what direction are they blowing? Taking the side off the case off will drop the temperature considerably in a case with poor airflow. There have to be some optimizations you can make without underclocking.

Well if you don't want to do anything about it I probably shouldn't waste time posting in this thread. One small tip though. You should have air in and air out. One fan blowing in and one blowing out. If they are both blowing in turn one around. Also computers don't overheat because they get old. They do however get dirty over time and then overheat. Clean off the cpu fan/heatsink.

I've never used thermal paste, and I have never regretted it. I made my own computer and it's been running fine for over 2 years now. TEAM APARTMENT: No one rocks quite as hard as we do. More than likely one of Caio fans are not spinning at full speed (yes there is double meaning there) or his case is caked with dust and crap. It's true. The video card is what fried this computer - still works, but we had to replace the video card and now it's only good for surfing the internet and playing yahoo games.....
It once was a fine running piece of macheniery, but crawdad had to stick in another video card on which the capaciter (sp?) went out and now we have a lame video card....but at least it turns on.
