Don't know if this is the place to post but just need to know something.

I want to know if scripts are considered cheating or not.

If they are can you turn them off on the server if possible.

Well, Star Wars Galaxies got into a massive head on collision with a truck carrying gasoline, causing a massive explosion.
Star Wars Galaxies was then taken from the wreckage, raped, and beat the **** out of. It is now in a comatose, charred state, while on life support.

scripts are just shortcuts of what you can already do. What scripts are you talking about?

example: I had a script going when I was a spy, after attacking my target I automatically switch instantly back to desguise after I do a backstab.

so in a sence no scripts arn't cheats. cheats are programs that alter the game giving you an un-equal advantage outside the games bounderys

I would argue that scripts ARE cheats.  They are a way to do something faster and better than you can on your own, thus giving yourself an assisted advantage.

I would compare scripts to aimbots.  They both do things within the game's boundaries, but more efficiently than you can do on your own.

I thought they were the printed materials actors memorize lines from to perform on stage at some later date.
You should be more like Cantrip.

I have it, its great fun, you also do a little battlecry when you hit it.

Some scripts dont change your in-game "preformance" like the script to toggle spinning the mini-gun for the heavy.  It just makes it so you dont have to hold the right mouse button all game long.

Pyros. They shout and curse. Stabbing wildly. More brawlers than warriors. They make a wondrous mess of things. Brave amateurs.

Personally for me scripts are cheating, even though they were/are used pretty widely.....The largest part of most FPS games is personal reaction time, and scripts remove that from the equation, and give some people, not nescesarily an advantage, but lessen their handicaps......

Suffers from the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency — nay — the very existence of George W. Bush

AKA

Bush Derangement Syndrome

Wasn't a script. That was just Klules with mouse sensitivity on max spinning around a lot.

I tried that script.  It worked pretty good for the pyro, however imagine switching to demo man, laying down some stickies and when you try to detonate them you start spinning around wildly.  Kinda makes it hard to get kills when your character becomes Scott Hamilton.

I dont use any scripts, but I wouldnt call them cheating per say.  They are a crutch some lesser humans have to use to be competitive...that's all.  I don't hate them for it....i encourage it.  Punching babies gets boring after a while...

I will admit there are some generally useless, but funny scripts (like that pyro one mentioned).  I remember in QTF, Cecil san had a script that would spin him 360 at an impossible speed....and randomly throw out ammo packs.  BUT, at teh beginning of the script he would prime and EMP and hold it in his hand.  When the emp blew all teh ammo boxes he had thrown out would blow  with it....creating a little mini Det pack - suicide effect!  fun times!

i think this topic has been discussed many times in the past and i think the outcome was (cheating or not) they weren't allowed on the server.  this was in the days of hl2dm (remember the mag sniping?).  this was always a hard rule to enforce because you can never really tell a lot of the times.

my own personal 2 cents.  i think they are cheating because they give you an advantage over somebody that isn't using them.

in this case, high-dpi mice and specialized keyboards are cheating because they give you an advantage over somebody that isn't using them. macros are also cheating. mapping primary fire to "scroll up" is also cheating.

okay that last one is a little cheap and only works for the five-seven on cs:s. but w/e.

scripts are a-okay by 3bam.

as it's been said, there's even a folder for them.

NOTE: i'm not against them, but i don't use any myself. i find natural speed to be more rewarding.

Scripts / Macros are not cheating...

If you are too lazy to setup a couple of scripts to maximize your ability to rape face then thats your peroggative...

However, anything within the confines of the game, and that does not violate the EULA is not cheating....

I remember back in the days of Quake 2, I setup keys to change my FOV dynamically so I could 'zoom' with the rail gun and basically have a sniper rifle...

I had it setup when I switch to different weapons to change my sensitivity too....

I mean, scripts are available to everyone... so every person playing a spy has the ability to insta cloak-disguise after donkey punching someone in the back of the head....

I personally don't have any setup, because I really don't have the time to learn how to do it... plus I can't think of any besides spy that would even be helpful....
