That's fuckin INSANE. Its a usb to firewire cord there was different bitrates and such the file size i forget but it was not to big, my laptop is pretty fast and the zen has a ram chip type of thing it installs stuff to insted of a harddrive. usb has a higher signaling rate than firewire, but typically runs at half-speed, delegating much of the work to the host processor. firewire only seems faster because the bulk of the work is being done by the connected device. zen and zune both use usb to its full potential. I already had knowledge that USB had higher rates than firewire. I researched to discover why, and posted the results here, where they were relevant. Don't be a dick. Safety + Peace

well, that is sort of discouraging, but i like the appeal of a zune much more than an ipod....im just not an ipod person.
I think one of the reasons why zunes are not selling is since everyone's used to an ipod and doesnt try out a new thing. But still, ipod's have had like what....600 generations? (exaggeration...) but the zune has had 2 gens so far, im sure they will get better.

"I'm just not an iPod man" could easily turn in to you missing out on that which you may enjoy the most. I think before you make this purchase, just borrow a friend's iPod for a week. Get to know it, and iTunes, and smart playlists, and all that good stuff. See if you're still "not" an iPod man. Then make your purchase... at least then you'll be able to 100% say that you're happier with a Zen/Zune than an iPod after your return-date passes. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... everything will get better, but what i think is being seen here is two things: zune was underadvertised. yes, there was a lot, but it clearly wasn't enough. many still don't know what a zune is, even fewer know it's capabilities. apple got there first. they made the mp3 player mega-popular. now they're the kleenex, the simple green, the SOS pad, the top ramen. they have extreme recognizability and familiarity. They have created a culture. I own a zune, ftr. Safety + Peace
