As many of you may already know, Ubisoft has had several sequels in the works for quite some time now. Now many of these games are well under development. Most will be coming out within the next year.

The most notable game that is in development now is far cry 2. As with Crysis, you will need around 6 graphics cards to play the game on full settings.

Same old far cry gameplay here: Guerilla warfare in places that have lots of trees. The graphics will be impressive, but will the gameplay continue to hold people's interest?

Included in current development is another Splinter Cell game, this one titled "Splinter Cell: Conviction". This installment will totally flip the mechanics that the series has become known for. After the rather cheesy finish of Splinter Cell 4: Double Agent, Sam fisher leaves the NSA. This time around, players will controll Fisher as a fugitive, trying to hide from authorities. It's totally the opposite of the former games. No more hiding in shadows, no more night vision, no more wirelessly hacking datacenter servers. Players must try to blend in with their surroundings, notably crowds of other people from what has been announced so far. Game developers have been very proud of new effects and technology that they are implementing here. Screenshots of their light and shader rendering engine in action are here.

Although there is no trailer, Gameplay footage from UbiDays is below:

Another sequel that should catch people's attention is a new prince of persia game. The third game in the series (The Two Thrones), kept all of the core mechanics of the previous 2, i.e. climbing on walls, but perfected the combat system. At times, the game felt very much like a 3D fighting game. Judjing by the trailer, the new game will have different characters involved. Could this also be a prequel of the 3 games that we have?

Amidst all of the sequels (and possibly prequels), one new title is almost Ready to be released.

Endwar is a RTS game that will be released for Xbox 360 and playstation 3. Apparently, this game will set itself apart form most other RTS Games. Namely, the perspective will not be from an overlord like Bird's Eye View, but a full controllable freestyle camera, a la Sins of a Solar Empire. The game takes place in 2020, and the plot can be summed up by only saying: World War 3. Obviously, the story here will not be an important part of the game here. Take Command and conquer: Generals, replace terrorists with russians, update the graphics and here you go.

Finally, for those of you who actually played Beyond Good and Evil, a sequel has been confirmed. Beyond Good and evil was released in 2003 and was meant to be part one of a 3 part series. However, being released around the same time as other major releases such as Splinter Cell, the game never sold very well, and Ubisoft has been hesitant to create a sequel. For those of you who have not played the original game, I highly reccomend it. The graphics in the new trailer have obviously developed a lot since 2003, but even for its time, BGE was not very hardware demanding. We have yet to see if the second game will be more needy than the first.

So the next big video game season has begun. Blizzard has announced Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2; Ubisoft has announced the aforementioned games.

Discuss.

You sound like a salesman, Delta...

I'm really, REALLY hoping that Ubisoft doesn't destroy the franchise that the geniuses at Crytek started. The original FC was a revolutionary game in terms of level design and graphics, and deserves all the praise that comes in its wake. Ubisoft... wait, they did exactly the same thing when they bought the rights to the Driver series.

Splinter Cell without stealth elements sounds about as promising as a paraplegic racehorse.

Prince of Persia? They're still making those? On a good note, the Assassin's Creed engine seems perfect for an open-area platformer and the combat looks more promising then button mashing your way through random enemy crabs.
Damn, original content is hard to find these days...

EndWar looks exactly like a sexed up World in Conflict with space marines. At least it looks somewhat promising in the gameplay field, but Damn, original content is still hard to find.

Beyond Good And Evil 2 is the silver lining of Ubisoft's lineup. Does it need an explanation? BGAE was one of the great games of its time, a wicked sick visual style combined with lots of glorious teamplay that makes your run of the mill game look like Caillou's Playground Adventures. Is it a system seller? Doubtful, but if it's even a fraction as good as the original it's going to be worth a solid rental.

I too, am a bit worried about the new Direction of splinter cell. They already fucked up what was once a solid, thoughtful storyline in 4. Hopefully they'll pull it off, because It would really be a new style of play. I mean, let's face it: Assassin's creed has about as much stealth as pac man.

I think that Far Cry 2 will be alright. EA had their hands on Crysis, and they didn't completely ruin it (Amazing).

I'd hate to break this to you, but most of this stuff is like 6 months old.
And also, I run Crysis on an 8600m at high with like 30-35 fps.  I can't see why people would complain, the 8600 is incredibly cheap now and was a mid range card when i bought it.
Chase: the only refuge i have from my mom is when i go to my gf's
Me: I have no gf, just palmela handerson
Chase: Well at least you aren't a double amputee.
