For less than the price of a pizza, there's Everyday Shooter.

The gameplay steps back the days of asteroids, but provides an very pleasing and enjoyable aesthetic.
The key to this game is the soundtrack. Completely guitar-driven, notes and riffs of the tunes you play to will surge and recede to reflect your gameplay. When you pick up a dot that your "enemies" leave behind, a small pluck is heard and contributes to the tune. Knocking down a larger enemy ( some take multiple hits to destroy ) triggers a chord, unlocking chain reactions ( which make the screen sparkle with animated explosions and fun effects ) plays entire guitar parts, even solos, all in time with the action on-screen.

There are 8 "levels." Each has its own mood and mode of play. Each level has its own way of triggering chain reactions to send the pixels flying and racking the points up. I won't explain any here, because they're rather simple, and fun to find. Gathering points gives you unlockables, accessible at the main screen. The unlockables are things such as extra lives, a "shuffle" mode that lets you play the levels in a random order, and so on.

Got an extra 10 bucks? Fire this up and kill some time before work, between classes. Load times are none, the fun is instant and gratifying, and you'll walk away from your computer feeling at least a little bit enlightened.
