Actually when I was watching it, One particular section of fireworks I thought looked odd, and possiablly computer generated.

Yep.

It's similar to a single musician playing multiple instruments, one at a time, then compiling them all together. Is the end result a "fake" because all the sounds didn't actually happen at once? Of course not. What we saw was simply a compilation of fireworks shot at different times because doing them all simultaneously created a dangerous situation.

It might have been nice if someone had mentioned the fact it's a compilation since there would definitely been some amazement at the alleged scope of it. But I wouldn't think less of the Chinese for doing that; it was simply our expectations that were off.

And apparently the little girl in pigtails wasn't the actual girl that sung the song.  She was the "prettier" lip syncer because the girl that actually sung the song wasn't pretty enough to represent China. :)

A lot of things like that happened, it seems.

The fireworks thing, the lip synch thing, the whole peace and harmony chinese symbols displayed during the event and it's double meaning to harmonize with the state - rather like a dog submitting to the master after being beaten. Of course, the cover-up broadcasts and not letting things be viewed as they really are (at first. China later, of course, changed their mind after pressure from different countries).

Now we know where the 40 billion went to!

It being China, and China being one of the posture-conscious countries on the planet, I never expected everything about the Olympics to be legit. At all. This is completely within character for them.

HOWEVER.
The bit with the girl pisses me off big-time. That's really going too far.

Whoever's calling the shots over there, welcome to shame on a global level. Fuck you, fuck your stadium, fuck your event, fuck the 40 billion+ dollars you've sunk into this. Eat shit. Die in a fire. Bite your cheeks off and mail them to me so that I can use them to wipe my ass and feed to swine. You swapped out the girl with the voice so that you could present a fake. A facade. Cowardice, weakness, spinelessness, and blindness only start the list of your mental, emotional, and cultural afflictions.

Whoever you are, and whoever okay'd that decision, fuck you all. When you burn, I will come to pour the kerosene down your throat and listen to your screams of apology.

Other events include banning ethnic Tibetans from working Beijing during the olympics ( http://seattletimes.nwso...8087495_olystrict02.html ), violation of China's pledge to allow open media access ( http://www.nytimes.com/2...olympics&oref=slogin ), as well as 15,000 residents being displaced to for the games ( http://www.reuters.com/a...ws/idUSPEK36399820080219 ). There's more. There's plenty more. And China isn't doing themselves a favor by allowing/encouraging the behavior.
