hey does anyone have a socket a motherboard that works and they dont need anymore, im trying to build a computer for a friends grandma and i just need a socket a motherboard. its a 2800+ xp alton or something like that i have everything but then motherboard it was my computer a long time ago until the gigabyte motherboard i had went out i have kept it until it was needed again. I have a couple of mobos somewhere without processors. I know for a fact I don't have a Socket A processor so if I find a Socket A mobo, you can have it. I'll clean up today. However, the target of this rig is someone's grandma? How old is she, like 70? What does she want to do with this machine? Internets? The reason why I ask is you can take any crappy machine from a thrift store and load Puppy Linux and get on the internets like in two minutes from the time you start the machine, from scratch. It uses Seamonkey, a Firefox derivative. It also has a Word-type program. Basically, anything you need in a very tiny tiny footprint. You should be more like Cantrip. She is in hers 50's she likes xp and wants that. And our 2 familys are really close everyone considers everyone else like family. she want to go on the net edit pics and ofther stuff with pics and there are some other progams she want to run and her old printer stoped working and she bought a new one but i guess it only work with xp and vista. SHe onlt has dial up for her net , she does not have alot of money to be spending on computer stuff. I didnt want to get a crappy comp that could not do what she wanted. I wanted to get her a comp that would do what she wanted and then some to help out.
