so i have a year old laptop.....compaq presario v3000 series and its got 1 whoooole gig of ram and it tries to run vista os. no idea why the fuck compaq sold this piece of shit with only 1 gig but anyways i want to buy a 2 gig kit and the live support tech gave me the specs on the memory

Mina _: And here are the exact specifications of memory: [23:25:48] Mina _: PC3200 DDR2-400MHz [23:25:50]

anyways so i go to crucial.com to look up the support types of memory which are "http://crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Presario%20V3000%20Series" which states Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-4200,DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. there are 2 slots and it supports kits. So i have no idea what the fuck i am supposed to do. please help!

What you're looking for are two 1GB DDR2 cards. So if you want to buy a set of memory from that website, buy this one.

Does the notebook already have a 1GB stick or 2 512s?  If it has a 1GB stick of RAM, all you need is 1 more.  Otherwise you have to replace both existing sticks.
