I'm trying to set up my 360 to my PC. I still need to get a VGA AV cable for the 360 but I might as well get this out of the way first. I already have a RCA/3.5mm adapter with the audio from my 360 plugging into the microphone input on my PC. How do I get what's going into my mic to go through my speakers? Is there an easier way than just having some program running in the background?

Ok nevermind I tried the front mic input and that works fine. No idea why the back one doesn't work though. I knew there was some way you could have whatever's going into the mike come right out the speakers. Now I just need to get an expensive ass VGA AV cable for xbox 360. I suppose Whut and Sirus might not have one in their collection of random computer hardware?

Murdy I love ya but I can't understand what you're saying half the time. Oh well I answered my own question, this thread no longer serves a purpose.

Why are you routing the audio from your 360 through your computer? With the proper adapter (RCA female/3.5mm female) you can just plug your 360 straight into the speakers.

Because I already had a RCA female/ 3.5mm male adapter sitting on my desktop doing nothing. Plus if I used your method I would have to switch out my speakers from my 360 to my PC every time I started or stopped playing 360, whereas with this method I can leave everything plugged in (except I have to switch Cat5 cables, which is a lot more convenient because it is right at my feet).

You lose a lot of sound quality through your method. What you really need is an A/V receiver and a switch.

Whatever you say. I personally don't trust audio that has been converted from digital to analog, analog to digital, and digital back to analog. Especially if you're using an onboard sound card.
And seriously, get a switch. There's no reason to have to plug and unplug ethernet cables all the time.

That's not the only reason to purchase a switch. You can do things like: 1) Have both devices access the internet simultaneously. 2) Transfer files between the devices. 3) Set advanced internet access priorities. 4) Perform software diagnostics/upgrades from one device to another. It's almost like adding more internet ports to your room.

Yeah on second thought you're right, seeing as I have to let it assign new IP addresses each time. Originally I was just planning on getting a wireless switch and leaving the 360 downstairs in the living room but our TV is pretty small and old. This way's just about the same amount of money but the audio and video quality is a lot better.
