Consider some of the practicality issues as well.

How's the space in the car?

Driver and passenger have plenty of room....and the roof height is constant across the entire car...so you can be 6'3 and not have problems at all..front or back.  Only space concern isthat the back passengers have very little leg room.  Can't strech out at all so I wouldnt take 4 people for a 2-3 hour straight ride or anything because those back 2 ppl are gonna have cramps.

The back seats fold down perfectly flat and you have more room than a standard trunk.  Plenty of room for luggage, golf clubs, computers, etc.  26 cubic feet of space in back when seats are folded down.

how about a bike?

If you took off the front wheel....yeah probably.  It would be tight but you could figure it out (on its side at an angle, etc).   I used to fit a full size moutain bike in a volkwagon fox.....

Anything is possible if you just squeeze hard enough...

Thats probably why they have the bike rack accessory if you are a big mountain biker or something.

yeah...id have to think about the rack, i used to have one on my old Passat, it was good, but loud, and i lost 4mpg on the highway. I guess I'll have to let the idea of a Mini settle in for a bit and see if it sticks..but I must say, it's growing on me.

From everything I remember of Pennsylvania (I was born there) I'd never get anything smaller than an SUV - and then probably a 4x4. But then I lived in a rural area so I recall a lot of roads in poor condition, many gravel driveways, and a lot of dirt roads - which often equated to "muddy".

But then I drive a SUV in Phoenix, Arizona, too... great combination of storage and seating.

I didnt realize we were talking about girlie cars.  Don't knock what you haven't driven.  I used to re-build front ends through college and have driven probably 90% of the cars on the road.  From Fiesta's to shelby cobras.  This one was one of the fun cars to drive.

Your man-card is a forgery by a highschooler who drives an Iroc camaro. (or you never traded your man card up?...i dunno) (be honest...you think the iroc is the fuckign pinnacle of cool...gotta have its chain steering wheel and yosemite sam mud flaps, though)

Agreed.  I'd take my Mazdaspeed 3 over a stock Mustang any day.  It's faster, far better handling and way more economical .

The cars in this class of small turbocharged 4 bangers are a lot of fun and you don't have to stop at the gas station every exit either.

Dramatic car is dramatic!

I have to agree..the mini is a blast to drive...I use to test drive customers just for fun...amazingly roomy when it comes to driver/passenger...I'm only 6'0" tall but had no problems getting in and out and feeling comfortable

My ex has one. The best feature is the grandfather clock in the center of the console.

And if you want to come off as a dick to me, I'm down. I haven't chased anyone off the forums in awhile. It was a joke that Fillie Fill got, no need for you to go nuclear. Need a hug?

I have an idea:  everyone drive whatever car they fucking like instead of writing about it on the forum.

I have an idea, QFT. I drive what I want and I post what I want. It's nice to have advice from your peers. You get to hear things like "if you get one, make sure to avoid X option" or "don't buy one because a Cooper S ate my sister," and other potentially useful tidbits of information.

Latest development, I went back and test drove the car again. I took the car out onto the highway to see what it was like in terms of wind noise and comfort. I got up to what seemed like a regular highway speed then realized, thanks to it's enormous speedometer, that I was actually doing 95-100mph. All in complete comfort. The car actually hunkers down and hugs the road at that speed. So I was sold.

However I decided to wait. I'm currently working for a start-up company that still needs to land its first (major) customer...and we're actually very close. Once that happens, life will be gravy and buying a new car will be in order. I dunno, something about buying a new car while working at a new company that is still in the red just doesn't sit well with me.

Filliam, I would test drive the other cars in the same class before making up your mind. The Mini is way overpriced for what you get IMO. A GTI is much faster, more roomy, and cheaper. I mean I woop on Mini Cooper S' all the time in my unchipped mk4 GTI. The mk5s are even faster and have more room.  Just saying way all your options before going out and getting sold on the the expensive slow mini.
