I've been having problems with TF2 for God knows how long and I have no idea wtf is wrong with it. I keep getting dropped from steam and then kicked from servers, i restart, repeat, pull hair out, stab something, repeat... All my firewalls are off and I even uninstalled my antivirus to see if that would help... it didnt... I am on a router but I do not know if I can get off of it... does anyone have any advice? It is really starting to piss me off and I don't like playing angry... :/ BTW, it only seems to be a problem for tf2... CS:S, GMOD, HL2DM all work just fine and I dont get dropped... also I dont know if it means anything but when we play in a scrim/tourney i.e. tempest scrim server I dont ever get problems... Stages of BBQ going through computer problems... Oh and thanks to everyone who has tried helping me thus far... Try the microwave solution to steam issues: delete clientregistry.blob in your steam folder and restart steam
What is the specific drop error message? {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name Jessica343: so I can get heals {pDs} Lead Salad: oh damn good idea {pDs} Lead Salad has changed their name to {pDs} Lead Salad (is a girl) Jessica343: hahah

What version of windows? XP or Vista? maybe 2k? j/k lol, What vid card, what programs do you have running in background? are you on a wireless or wired direct network? what router? Try HiJackThis to grab the essential info and post results here it could be a network stack issue on your comp, a bad driver install, or a program running is crashing the network

it said could not secure vac or something like that... i run xp and based on narrowing down potential problems (turned off firewalls, uninstalled antivirus and checked internet connection) I am wondering if the problem is the router. I opened the ports as it told me to do via steam support but still nothing. :\ McCheese wrote:I've always said all women are 2 drinks away from full on lesbian action Lead Salad wrote:I never figured whut for a fairy..wait, yes, yes I did. The easiest way to test that theory is to substitute your old router with a new one. If you have a spare one lying around somewhere (God knows I have like 3), or if you have a friend that can loan you one while you figure it out. That way you aren't buying a new router when it may or may not be the problem.
I have seen routers go bad before, but it's fairly uncommon, so be careful about buying a new one.
Also, are you on a school campus network? Some public intranets block certain ports at the ISP level. TEAM APARTMENT: No one rocks quite as hard as we do.
