i remember a while back, my comp got hit with a huge power surge which caused me to have to me rebuild my comp, and since my mouse has been acting all wonky donk lately. i was wondering if its cause it's been degrading over time

its a usb logitech mx518, sometimes it will shut off then come back on, at first i thought it was my usb drives but other usb devices work fine and dandy

It has both moving parts and electronics.  It can die.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Yes.  It's possible.  When it happens, you got some terrible luck though.

I feel I can throw my mouse across the room into a bucket of Mountain Dew and it'd still work.
