Who is he (besides being the comic person)? How did you meet him? Where did he come from?

I know almost nothing about him.

Final Gamer, our dedicated and proud game reviewer approached me on day with an "idea" which he seemed unsure about.

He explained that he had a friend that does comic work and was looking for an outlet for his art. He linked me to some of his stuff.

Being quite disgruntled with Jase, and having a section of the website dedicated to apparently nothing, I quickly agreed. It helped that Stranger is talented.

I've spoken with Stranger only briefly and he seems to rarely comment in the forums about anything. We settled on a schedule for his comics and he began. He was unsure about whether or not he'd be able to keep up with the Monday/Friday scheduling, but I said anything is better than nothing. So far he hasn't missed a single day.

I try and reward good work. Final Gamer is on the pay roll, in a sense. I kick him some dollars for his new game reviews. I do this because, while the only people who really read his reviews are the members of this community, I wanted to show him that we appreciated his hard work. He has remained truly dedicate where others have failed miserably.

I plan on doing the same for Stranger, in some regard. In the mean time, I've been submitting his work to Digg (where there has been a serious lack of digging and support from the members here), as well as paying $15 to have his comic featured on thewebcomiclist.com. The latter site obviously doesn't mean much, but at the same time since we joined the list the comic has received over 150 views. I can only assume it's from potentially new readers.

And while that number is small right now, I see potential to grow. I think Stranger is beginning to figure out exactly what he wants his comic to be, and I think it has shown in terms of the quality of his work and the humor that goes into it.

We're still in the trial phase with him, but I'm already incredibly impressed with his work and his determination. I think he'll fit in nicely here and I feel we're truly lucky to have him with us.

It's because of him that when we finally launch the next wdfnews.com version (all jokes about delays aside), the comic section will come with us. I was removing it before Stranger arrived.

What disturbs me about Stranger though, isn't him or his work, but the fact that 40 people can vote on a poll in the forums regarding whatever stupid bullshit we're polling on, but only 5-9 people can take the time out of their obviously busy schedule to help support his work on sites like Digg. We have so many community members here, that it makes me furious that we can't get our dedicated contributors any readership or exposure because we're all too lazy to sign up for a website and click a button.

Look at how pitiful this is:

To me that's just sad. Now some people might think it's a little sad for me to be submitting this stuff. Not all of it is really worth it's salt, obviously. However, the point is not whether or not it's the best thing the internets have ever seen, it's the fact that these are people who take time out of their day to produce a form of entertainment for their community members, and all they get in return is whining and bitching about having to sign up for something.

Now, none of that would ever hit the front page, but that's not the point. The point is showing these people you care. It's bad enough no one makes any comments in their review or comic threads, but to also show them that you don't have the time to show your support in other ways makes me quite sad.

Fuck that noise.

I'm not even kidding either, I can't even begin to tell you how many people told me they would sign up but they don't want to take the time to fill out a form.

And so our dedicated few get no exposure, and I rage.

But I digress.

The Webcomic List
That's the ranking for the comic on thewebcomiclist.com, if anyone cares.

Also, to those who have helped support our contributors, big thanks to you.

This, surprisingly, includes Spaniard. Thanks, buddy. No hard feelings.
