What about restoring it to Factory settings? if thats possible on your computer.

yes i did, thank though.
also, we use x-fire because it works while you play. AIM requires that you minimize your game to use it. x-fire will pop up in the bottom right of your screen when you get a message (with the message unless its long). then you press scroll lock and "x" (default) to return the message. also the same keys will open the menu if you want to create a message.

well i tried a bunch of stuff and came to one conclusion
NEW COMPUTER!!! yay
something much better then wat i have and only used for gamming pretty much =)
but that means i wont be playing for a while...
not sure when im getting a new one yet tho

no i mean, the message window doesnt pop up at all. the commands are still the same, but when i press them, nothing happens. and it's for all games, not just hl2dm. can't open a window, can't open up my friends list if i want to spam someone, it's very irritating.
