Ya thanks guys. War? Saddamizer? Shoot, I know we have more veterans than that. Anyway, what Razor said. You should be more like Cantrip. Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ." GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit." Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. " WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore." GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD" llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!" Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

Thank you all who have served our country. I'm always amazed at what a sacrifice other people are willing to make for my freedom and I'm very grateful to all of you. do you people in the states wear poppy's for Remeberance day (ie Veterans day)
We have this poem called Flanders Fields by John McCrae
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

"If I got a Nickle Every Time I heard that, I'd be so rich, I Could Walk Up To Oprah and burn her Freedom Papers." "Sex is like KFC. Once your done nibbling on the breast, you got a nice greasy box to stick your bone into"

This is one of my favorite poems . McCrae was a lieutenant in the Canadian Army and wrote this immediately following a battle. Belligerent Pimp wrote: The Man Society just suspended my man card for a week for getting rickrolled by Mrs. Mary Midwestern Housewife.

Couldn't leave well enough alone with a touching poem. Had to throw in some nerd info.

WOW... I got chills and wet eyeballs... To all my brothers and sisters who have served... past and present... I bow my head and thank God for you....
WHY?... so I can sit on my injured butt and play with kids. I am without worry of being blown up or being arrested for saying whatever is on my digital tongue (except those reasonable taboos)...
... although... my 'puter is trying to emulate a sticky bomb lately... Should I worry?
PS... Thanks for remembering us... it really means a lot to this ol' Nam Vet....
PPS... This is not Memorial Day... BUT... A highly decorated, best childhood friend who served in Nam x2 tours.... well, Goofy (aka Craig) passed away this week and I dedicate this note especially to him and family... and my younger brother Den, who served in the Navy, passed on last Feb... as a HS State 2nd place wrestling dude...he loved shore patrol and beating disobedient drunk sailors... I miss them... and so many others gone before us...
AS YOU MAY KNOW: Life was rough for drafted youngsters in the late 60's and early 70's... because we were literally despised by many when we returned home.
Movies and books may give us insight, but reality is something else. We did not understand... no parades... no thanks... no welcome home (except for family who, many now admit, thought we had lost our minds... in hindsight: many of us very well may have... look at me and enough said... )
Many of us, like the present troops returning home, were teens and early 20's.... How could we possibly understand that it was not us they hated but we were the punching bag?... then came the pain of rejection added to post traumatic mind freak... and people avoided us like a plague. Many of us tried to blend in as hippies... (:. AND many refused to come to the Crypt... oops... wrong thread ... no disrespect intended but I'll leave it here)
For some, healing comes slowly in bits and pieces... In late 2001 after 9 11, while toiling in ER, a Marine dad with a sick son heard about my service... the young buck walked up and said "Welcome home, sir."...he shook my hand and gave me a hardy hug... talk about emotional choke...
I then realized, except for some family in 1969, I had never heard those words face to face from a stranger... only in writings or on the tube. Amazing how good that is to hear... Some of you Iraq vets have confided in me... I am honored and say only this: Never ever ever give up...
Vet or not, we all know pain and confusion... like old "friends" they'll hang out for a season... to my vet buds: if I could, I'd transport through this screen and hug your neck... I take solace knowing we are together in spirit... so, if ya just got back from front line or behind the scenes action (Intel clerks included)... thanks and welcome home.
Please do all you can for our current troops and old vets, whether by prayer or a gesture of kindness... like you have in this thread... it helps in the life-long healing process.
PEACE

I lost a good friend this summer that was a survivor of D Day and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a good man but more than that he was humble. I will miss not being able to call him and thank him for what he did. The men and women of his era are fading fast. He was truly a part of the greatest generation our nation has ever known.
