A 14 year old girl did an experiment just before the election to see how "tolerant" her school of Obama supporters really were. First day she wore a shirt saying "McCain Girl," the next day she wore a shirt saying "Obama Girl." Read the article to see what happened. Very interesting

She was in 8th grade.  I hated middle school with a passion.  I think cliques and popularity contests were the worst in that time period.  High school was fairly mellow in retrospect, but middle school was brutal.  You were ostracized for being anything but the popular opinion.

Performing a sociopolitical experiment in 8th grade where kids are notoriously socially chaotic, and politically uninterested.

Yeah. Real credible study.

Yeah. Real credible study.

Got comments from teachers too. I would bet you'd get similar reactions if you stood on a street corner in San Francisco or any other major liberal city.

Ah, what you say points out one of the unmentioned factors of this "test".
People know her already - especially teachers. If she went to class everyday and exhibited liberal leanings, then wore a McCain shirt, comment by even a teacher wouldn't be that unusual. The fact she was a known student is a pretty big variable, and the fact that we're not told more about her day-to-day interaction with the other students leaves a huge question mark. For all we know she's picked on regularly, in which case her wearing this shirt only fanned already-existing fires. She could be a nerd, a goth, a cheerleader. We can't be expected to take a social experiment serious when we don't know the baseline of normal, expected behavior.

The fact that she thought of this idea as a means to get extra credit, and conspired with a teacher at all... that kind of leads me to believe she's a bit of a nerd. I also don't think the reaction of any of her friends were mentioned, which could be taken to mean she doesn't have many. Things start leaning in the direction of her not exactly being a popular social butterfly.

She is not using a government grant to study this, she is learning how to do a study.  Is it flawed, yes, but I do not think she is using the data for a statistical analysis of anything.  Give the poor kid a break.

Conservatives consistently and openly act against measures and people who seek to lessen the impact of biggotry in the United States. A vote of support for the GOP, regardless of stated reasoning, is also saying "Gays don't deserve rights, racism doesn't exist anymore, and I deserve to be richer than everyone else." I'm not really sure why rednecks and neocons are shocked that people who don't agree with that sentiment would construe them as being intolerant.

I used to think that the bickering between liberals and conservatives was funny.  I mean damn hilarious, but now, frankly it sickens me.  You're both wrong!  One side doesn't have all the answers, if it did, this country would be doing just fine, but it's going to hell in a handbasket and you damn well know it!  If you stopped looking for personal flaws in people from the opposing parties, maybe you could get stuff done, instead your harping on one side for wanting to extend quality of life using stem-cells, or bitching about how someone is a corrupt bastard because they believe in more conservative economics, you could find some middle ground and get people into houses, clean up the streets and get people to stop killing eachother.    Michael Moore, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Al Franken... All assholes who we'd all be better off if they were shipped off to their own little island to fight amongst themselves as to who is the king of the rock.
-BTW, racism isn't a conservative thing... it's seen all over the country and all over the world... from Texas to Massachusetts, France to China, Iraq to Somalia.

I'm starting to agree with Jefferson.  The party system is the bane of the U.S. government.
