We're in a recession. CNN said so. So there.


Anyway, work has been spotty at best and I've recently moved into a new house. Our financial situation isn't what it used to be and we're simply not making enough money through donations to maintain our level of activity in the gaming scene. Couple this with my lack of interest in gaming currently and you have a recipe for disaster.

I won't lie to you. TF2 doesn't interest me anymore. I haven't played in months. Neither does L4D. In fact, it's been months since I even had time to play a game. With that in mind, it makes little sense for me to continue to invest such large quantities of money into something I don't even do any more.


I want to take a moment to thank those who have continually supported us. We couldn't have gone this long without you. You know who you are. Thanks for everything!


As it stands now, we're pulling two of our servers from the datacenter we're hosting from. We are leaving one there. We're also cutting our bandwidth allocation. We can no longer afford to run everything.


Tempest 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 are closing.

Tempest 1 is going to become a mixture of official and custom maps. Tempest 2 will remain 2fort. Tempest 7 will now become Tempest 3. It will continue to support the zombie fortress mod.

The Crypt will close.

The Abyss will close.

The Meat Grinder 2, 3, and 4 are closing. The Meat Grinder 1 will remain open and act as our only server for L4D.

We've also discontinued our HLStatsx subscriptions. We'll be adding stat support back on our own machine. Stats will be down temporarily at the end of this billing cycle.


We've got some projects in the pipes for next year. Hopefully once we get things off the ground we'll be able to reopen many of our servers. However, for now, we'll be scaling back dramatically.


Again, I want to thank you all for your continued support. You guys have been great.

I've done a lot of thinking lately and have decided against closing everything down. We aren't going anywhere. The site will remain online as well as a couple servers.

I'm sorry that we're at this point now, but we needed to do something to keep us afloat.

Custom maps will be voteable.

As long as the forum remains and new games are released to play, there will be a community to come back together for them.  I think general community interest in TF2 has been waning, so it's not just you.  I play occasionally and almost exclusively on Tempest #2, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Please continue to let us know what we in the community can do.  Are you still taking donations?

Amen brother. When ever someone is doing something that costs him or her money, that person needs to be constantly considering if its worth it. For example: when a server started to be regularly empty (like one of the tempest servers), we should have have closed it then. Then we could have avoided unnecessary costs to WDF and possibly have brought our costs in line with our donations.

I'm right there with you on the having to cut stuff back for now boat WDF?... I'm not going anywhere either, except maybe to work a 2nd job for a while but after April, things should be better for me.  I will always be a Team Fortress gamer (2fort will always be my fave too!).  I will stay with ya till the bitter end which hopefully will NEVER come!.  I'll be back on the donation train prolly some time next month. 

Hope to see all you folks on the server sometime soon, I hope to be able to start kickin some 2fort butts in the near future!
