So my gaming computer died.

It's been a trooper, but it's aging a bit -- the GeForce 8800 GTX and processor are starting to show their age.  A day ago it locked up, then whenever I'd try to reboot, it would either not even POST/beep or would get to the initial motherboard logo screen and hang.  I've removed and/or individually checked all parts except the processor and motherboard, so it's a critical component that's died.  I've started looking into the cost and availability of parts to essentially build a new gaming rig, and would appreciate any advice from other PC builders out there.  Parts that would be transferred from my old machine include:
  • Antec Nine Hundred Two Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
  • Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty
  • Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM SATA, Model WD800JD (OS Drive)
  • Seagate 500 GB Barracuda 7200.9 SATA (Storage Drive)
  • Plextor 16X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW SATA Drive

New parts would be added include:

Thoughts?  I'm not really dead set on any part, but you can see some of my reasons for picking the more tricky ones above.

Only thing I might consider would be slightly more power.  700 watt is plenty to run that machine, but suppose 3 years from now you want to run dual Cards of some badass future powerhog chip by nvidia or ATI.  You need 650 watts to run that machine right now (efficiently anyway) You could probably run a SLI or Crossfire on the 700 watts, ( IE i have read that its possible) but you will be pushing the PSU out of its efficiency rating and powerhogging.  I would shoot for 850-1000 watts just so I dont have to worry about it 3-5 years from now.

Note - I am only saying this because I got bit by the "just enough power at machine build" bug 3 years ago and had to buy another PSU when I upgraded several components.

I would have to suggest the DX58SO from Inetl for a motherboard and get a GTX 290 instead of the 285. I might be mistaken, but the stream processor count and VRAM are drastically increased for the 290. Also, like Giller said, you might want to upgrade the power supply more.
