Are you for it or against it?

I'm personally against it. We already owe a ridiculous amount of money, but on the other hand who knows? Maybe this really will fix the economy and we'll be able to start paying back our debt sooner?

So far I like Obama because of the stem cell thing. But then there's this. I really want to like Obama, though.

I think it's great.

I just finished graduate school and am searching for a job to begin my career as I study for my home state bar exam.  It's a comfort to know that no matter what I find or whether I work hard enough at it or not, I'll always be taken care of.

It makes me feel better, though I wouldn't necessarily it makes me work harder.

The question is when does it stop?  It seems like every week there is another corporation wanting to be bailed out.  While at the same time there is hardly any oversight on where the money is going.  We've already seen some examples of how the money should not be spent from the first stimulus package.  I just feel bad for my kids and their future kids since they will inherit the current mess this country is in.

Yup. You simply can't throw money at problems. Also I don't like solving a problem created by debt....by creating more debt.

Come on, guys!  Hope and change!

Besides, you can't stop it, the Democrats are zee weiners.  The American people elected him so what he wants to do is de facto what the American people want!

Embrace the hope and change.  Take off work early!

LOL I wish I could take off work early.  Obama is a lot like Carter was in the 70's - that is what scares me...

I was pretty young around Carters time , but I do remember seeing around 16 percent mortgage rates.  What many people don't see coming is the rise in interest rates due to inflation(We have to pay for this somehow).  But don't worry, looks like we get to experience it again for those who missed it the last time.

I'm not defending Bush, but I love how no matter what he did, he was made fun of. Watch the clip of Obama below. This will be overlooked like everything else he does...

I agree that throwing money at the problem won't solve anything, but at the same time, we can't just let the economy tank while everyone does nothing.  The root cause that got us into this mess resides in too many people being greedy.  Sorry, but unchecked capitalism doesn't work.  We've seen it before, and it's just history repeating itself.  The way I see it, by the time I reach retirement, social security will already be bankrupt, so the national dept will continue to be everlasting...

Sigh.... I think I'm just going to pour myself another scotch.

Maybe if they start making examples out of some of the asshats that got us in this situation, it will curb this possibly of this not happening again in the future.  I'm serious, some of these overzelous fuckwads need to have everything taken away from them and see how they like it.

Are you kidding me?  Dick Cheney's Mechanical Heart does that with every funny image/video he posts!  Right??

Awesome avatar. Definitely fitting.

I wonder what the country would be like if the powers that be started acting in the interest of the people, not of the corporations. If capitalism was left "unchecked" and then started to "not work"? Or would it? Maybe people would start to take responsibility for their actions without having the government's teat to suck on?

I believe that Obama got blindsided by this "stimulus package" by the leadership of his own party.  Obama is a very popular President and really didn't need the approval of his own party to govern "down the middle". Congress is not very popular and they knew that Obama could have very easily pushed thru a real stimulus package, and Congress would have had to follow.  The leadership of the Congress put together this bill in a manner that forced Obama to work with them and them only, thus splitting the votes down party lines and  forcing Obama to side with the party leadership.  In other words, he got played.

Did you ever wonder what happened to Obama's statement "I will go thru these bills line by line and remove any unnecessary spending"?  Weather you agree or disagree with the "stimulus/spending package", the manner in which it was passed should piss anyone off.
