Ok, first I'll tell you how it all happened...
Ok I was on AIM talking to this girl that I've known for about 2 years. She and I were friends, really great friends until she told me her confession over AIM. I accepted it and after about 3 weeks she stopped talking to me. I think that it has to do with the dance that I went to with her. Now here is what happened at the dance:
The music was going, everyone is dancing. I'm not a dancer. I HATE dancing....I forced myself to go because my gf told me to go. So she and I are sitting there and she drags me out to the dance floor. I felt somewhat pissed at the fact that I told her that I didn't want to dance yet she dragged me out there anyway. After that night we talked for about 2 more days and that was it.
That was EVERYTHING that we did together. I feel VERY awkward when I'm around her. I have a class with her and she stares at me most of the time. I'm not sure if it's out of hate or she wants me again. What I want is for us to be friends again not girlfriend-boyfriend. Can anyone spare some advice?

In the simplest of terms, all it seems you have to do is tell her you have no romantic feelings or intentions toward her. If she is your friend above anything else between you, she'll understand and respect that, and the awkwardness should take care of itself. It sounds like that dance may have been an attempt to make you feel something for her (aside from pissed). There may be more to this, but those are just my initial observations. I would say to ask her whats going on, in a very calm way. Be way mature and honest and let her know that you feel like everythings akward now and you don't know where things are at. Make SURE not to lose your cool in any way. That way no matter what you don't look like a big banana head.
Make sure you let her know that the friendship was more important then anything else anyway so its silly that you guys would blow it over some akward moment. Ask her where she thought things were going, because when everything is out in the open its just so much easier to look back and laugh at. Thats all these moments ever become anyway, either something to look back and laugh at or something to cringe and grit your teeth at. So I'd say go for the former and not the later.
Good luck, I'm sure if your straightforward and honest everything will work out for the best.

yeah IF he is in highschool now I would guess him to be about 5 or 6 when that song came out. Songs expressing teenage and geeks, freaks, and wierdo angst probably didnt register at the time. I liked the song at the time....hehe.
As a thread topic note...i am confused.. Confirm for me this is the case: So you were Friends, then she made the confession that she liked you or something? You danced with her for one night, and then you havent really done anything and she is staring at you in class alot. My guess would be that she is interested in you...waiting for you to make the next move. If she were mad at you ...she wouldnt be staring at you all the time.., So your next move is to basically say you care for her as a friend, but are not interested in pursuing a deeper relationship... It sounds like his girlfriend broke up with him and he's unsure of what to do at this point.
