We've tried, but failed. No one seems to want to play competitive TF2. Hey, thats cool. It always seemed like a pick-up game to me. Pop in, play a while, leave. But Mr. 12 and I are wanting to get into the more competeive side of gaming...but we need a team and we'd prefer people from pDs to play with. What games would you be willing to play with us? :\ If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

I'm going to share this with you only because I have been through this ordeal from experience. You can compete with pDs, but if you're really committed to getting a team that really makes competing a priority, then I really wouldn't try to make it happen here. I left pDs a few years back for that exact reason and I found a lovely medium amongst both competing and community. The great thing about this place is that you don't have to be in the clan to be part of everything that goes on, which is why I'm still here and active. I hope you can find something that works for you, especially if its amongst pDs. I don't really know what their take is on teams vs. clans, but I'm just offering my 2 cents. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name Jessica343: so I can get heals {pDs} Lead Salad: oh damn good idea {pDs} Lead Salad has changed their name to {pDs} Lead Salad (is a girl) Jessica343: hahah

Thats probably true. We've had little success before, but I know that at least some people out there will want to be a little competitive. Its not like we're going to be uber leet pro scrimmers. Mr. 12 and I would just like to know who would be up for some serious gaming...in whatever game we can decide on. I'd be willing to compete in TF2, L4D, or Call of Duty:WaW. I don't know who else here has that last one though. Quote:Razor: As hard as one might try no one will ever be able to pull one over on Super Penguin. Backpack of Win

Yay Super Penguin! I'll let Meester Tvelve know. I would never have guessed. L4D is always cool. I might have recovered from my L4D burn out...but as long as we dont play the hospital level...>_> If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Here's my suggestion. Create a steam group. Get anyone here that wants to participate in competitive play to join that group. You can then keep in touch and organize on a more intimate basis as opposed to the bloated wdf and pds groups.

I tried that as much as possible with at least three of the TWL teams and it didn't work once. Not saying that it couldn't work, but you have to be careful about the people you pick because we lost games just based on being down two or three players, and that's with having two ringers also in the team. Just make sure they have a good schedule for the competitive side because I was fine losing, but I wasn't fine with people saying they would be there and then not having a team 5 minutes before the match and scrambling for people to fill the gaps. That said, I would go for either TF2 or L4D. Plastering my name all over the place like an ad, Muff... Anywho, my conversation with Muff prior to discovering that I was actually vouching for a competitive team in the one clan not exactly hell bent on the idea, was more or less about having "a dedicated group who we can do stuff with on a moments notice". Super Penguin tried this, K_Buz tried it: seemingly everyone who's been here long enough knows someone who's tried to push that envelope here. I know this from experience and even got close to the guys in CMS for this same reason. What I would prefer knowing is who's interested in various games, so we can team up and do stuff (TF2, L4D, Starcraft; whatever). The only thing I can see working in this kind of situation is a simple steam group. If possible, I'd like to use Super Penguins group for all this since it's a bit stupid having 50 million groups made by different folks in the same clan doing the same things...unless, y'know...we like networking like that. =P DredNaught wrote:In regard to the ladies... or lack thereof: Just remember that it's about quality, not quantity. Are you talking about competitive starcraft or just homies dedicated to playing it? Because competitive SC is 99% 1v1

Willing to play anything under the sun. Have a very random schedule. Love to kill zombies/under aged gamers/losers/pedophiles/and-every-other-variety-of-socially-unacceptable-thing. Where do I sign up?

There was once a time when we had a very serious competitive team for hl2mp. Of course, it was lead by me. People seem to listen when I call. Maybe I could run it.
