Alright guys i am geting an even swap for my computer so i was wondering what parts i should get my suppler can get good prices on some but i would still like to know what i should aim for he says Quad cores are now the same price as core 2s because there starting to phase those out so should i aim for a quad or duo? I want intel set , i have a board in mind and a G-card is 9800gtx or a gtx+ heard some good things about this card not sure what one of the many out there i should get I want to make sure its all compatible , it dont have to be super high end or overcloaking shit but something that could run the hardcore games would be sweet it doesn't change the fact that most people think Jews are much like the Ferengi of Star Trek. I mean you should just look at the processor from a price/performance stand point. Go to Tomshardware.com and benchmark your intel processors. The Core i'x' processors are the new mainstream. I think you can pick up a core i7 920 for a decent 300'ish dollars and get great performance. I am guessing 800 bucks is your budget? More cores doesn't equal more performance necessarily (most of the time it does buuuuut....), and very few games are optimized to thread 4 cores anyway. Quote:

Core2duo is still going to be around for a long time. Quad is the leetest of the leet and serves the sole purpose of masturbation. The GTX line is pretty solid--go the extra mile and pick up the 260 or higher. You'll thank yourself big-time. Safety + Peace

260 or higher ?. Remember i dont know jack about g-cards or computers so you might need to explain some I have some of what i have in mind that is why i am asking you if these aprts would work well together The board is the Evga 750i SLI FTW But with a new comp think i should try for a higher board that way i can get DDR3 ram from Corsair, Not sure what the diff is but people tell me its the new and better ram for games and high cpu stuff the 800 is what i am getting for my computer, So its basically free for me to get these parts this , Just wondering if i should try and aim high and not have to worry about upgradeing for a long time or just get a basic and worry about maybe getting an ali card later on Also is it true that the Ram on the card dont matter to much if i have more ram on my computer , or should i get a high ram Gtx+ it doesn't change the fact that most people think Jews are much like the Ferengi of Star Trek. The GTX line is pretty solid--go the extra mile and pick up the 260 or higher. You'll thank yourself big-time. Depends on what you do with your rig. If you encode movies and write code that uses all cores like I do, then quad core is worth it. I guess I'm among the few who doesn't require a towel. I suggest you just pick the CPU/Mobo/Ram/Video Card combo that is at the best price/performance ratio. No need to shell out the big bucks for DDR3, buy really nice and fast DD2 (and a lot of it, 4 gigs minimum). That'll make your computer last longer than a fast CPU alone. As far as video card, I say stick with nvidia myself; I've had nothing but issues with ATI cards. I'm quite happy with my GTX 275. Try to find one that's on sale either through your contact or at newegg.

Well intel works well with all navida stuff and thats what i was planing on getting but i never heard of these GTX 275 can you tell me some about it? is it better then the 9800Gtx+ i was aiming for Wish there was someplace i could just look this shit up and compaire the cards cause there is like 50 diffretn brands of this card bfg. evga. sparkle so on it doesn't change the fact that most people think Jews are much like the Ferengi of Star Trek. Also is it true that the Ram on the card dont matter to much if i have more ram on my computer , or should i get a high ram Gtx+ GTX 260 is a type of Nvidia video card. There is also a GTX 285,280, 275 (generally the higher the number the better the performance..generally) As long as you get a video card with PCI-e...you really dont have to worry much about compatability with motherboards unless you want to run SLI in the future. Most good boards will support SLI/Crossfire configurations..and its support is usually plastered all over the box and retailers...so its easy to see. if you buy a dual GPU card, you just need teh one pci-e slot anyway. The EVGA 750 SLI FTW mobo is a 775 socket board...which means you would not be able to go with the newest Intel processors (Core i'x') because they are an LGA1366 socket. You WOULD be able to go with a core 2 series cpu (duo or quad). I would not recommend this board if the following applies: you want the newest chipset, fastest ram configuration, and the ability to do some life extending upgrades 3-4 years down the line. I WOULD recommend this board if cost/budget is a factor and you like the price/performance points of the Core 2 intel line. You also wont have access to USB 3.0 that is the imminent mainstream, if that matters...not without upgrading both mobo again Lastly, video ram is important because the GPU's can draw the texture info without going through and lagging the CPU calling from main memory. Alright that was helpfull So what board would you recomend that supports the newer ones? I was aiming for the 750i because of the 2 pcie 2.0 slots that i could use to upgrade in the future it doesn't change the fact that most people think Jews are much like the Ferengi of Star Trek. I just have to add my own little two cents here... A few days ago i bought an Ati 4870 made by Sapphire, the 1-Gig of DDR5 version. Runs like a little monster down there, very quiet and fast. Crysis max with zero issues. And it was only 145 dollars....

Pretty much what giller said. Most games do not utilize all four cores on the quad, although some games do. If you do a lot of multitasking, its nice to have the four cores, spreads the load. As to what DreadNaught said, nice and fast DDR2 will do for now (in some situations, faster ram '1666' timings are actually slower then 1066). You also have to think that you need a x64 operating system to actually utilize more then 3.25 gigs of ram. As for the GPU, same as what giller said, if you have the money, go with one of the GTX 2xx series. Nice and fast, the only problem I find is that its two cards sandviched into one. That means when it says it has 1792MB or onboard video ram (depending on the card), it actually means that each side of the card has 896mb of ram. It will slow it down a bit but not noticable AT ALL (slows it down by a microsecond)! The ATI cards actually have both GPU's on one board, same with the ram. I hate ATI, so I say go with Nvidia. Jeeps don't get stuck, they just take breaks. TripleBam wrote:That's the most spastic fucking pissing match I've ever seen. Good god.
