If you have dual graphics cards and dual monitors does the monitors plug into one card or one monitor, one card?

Then you're doing it wrong. Fiddle around with the video card's software, somewhere there there will be a wizard for enabling dual monitors.

you can find the dual monitor enabling features usually on your video card software suite. Also most of the time, if you just right click on your desktop and select "properties", your video card will have a tab where you can enable this. you should be fine having both monitors plugged into the same card. Oh, and you have to have the second monitor plugged in and turned on. :) that helps too.... Quote:

It worked that time.
When I selected the SLI config box it would not work. Unchecked it and monitor came back. Checked it again and now I have both monitors. Go figure. Thanks everybody.

Thats they way its supposed to work. To have duel displays using sli they both have to be plugged into the same card. When you turn on SLI, the second card isn't acting as a graphics card, its acting as the first card's bitch.

Back when you had one card, you were then-as-now running two monitors? Your computer is probably hollering LOLWUT at the second card--check to see you have your SLI configured properly. Safety + Peace

okay time to clear some things up. SLI does NOT WORK with dual monitors. it is not designed to. SLI is designed for one monitor with larger than standard resolution, so monitors 24" and up. now then...when using dual monitors, yes you just plug em both into one card. as far as getting both graphics cards to work together, i.e. SLI, to power two monitors, there may be some sort of crazy workaround somewhere (such as using a 3rd card for the second monitor or somesuch), but its is not designed to happen. It would depend on which card he's using, or if he is indeed using SLI. Could be crossfire. And nobody knows how crossfire works. And from the 180 line up, SLI does offer dual-monitor in SLI. Plug each monitor into the same card
Open up your display properties
Windows has built in support for dual monitors (I know XP does, not sure about Vista but I assume)
You should see a picture of two screens under the Settings Tab, if not look around for an option that states something about dual monitors
Worst case scenario if you can't find that check under Advanced (my Nvidia card has a Control Panel under the card's name tab) and should be able to find a option to turn on dual monitors
Biggest thing to make sure of if using the Windows step is that your monitors are setup the same as the picture, e.g. if it shows monitor 1 on the left and 2 on the right, make sure your monitors are that way or click and drag the picture to reverse this...if you don't it will affect your ability to move your cursor over to the other monitor
Dunno about SLI as I don't have that.
