Ok here is the deal, I got this game Saturday. Played it a little both nights. In both the single player and multiplayer the game will minimize and I get kicked to the desktop. Most of the time I can maximize it and keep playing. Occasionally it will fling up an error message that "iw4mp.exe has stopped working." When this happens it kicks me totally out of the game. By the way getting kicked to the desktop has happened recently with TF2. Thought it was video driver so I went back several drivers to see if that helped, it did not. Anyone have a clue?

It may also be your sound drivers. When I started playing Oblivion a few years ago, my whole computer would crash whenever a bow and arrow were drawn. I updated my sound drivers, and everything works like it's supposed to now. It was late, I was irritated, so it remains to be seen whether it works or not.

Huh. I dont think that's what he is talking about. I think that what he is saying that this happens suddenly without his interaction. I've never had this happen where I got completely kicked to the desktop but on some games I have had issues with software that overlays objects onto you windows such as IM software notifications, battery life status, outlook new message popups, etc. Anything like that happening? If its not that, its either Infinity Ward's, Microsoft's, or your OEM's fault. Google it, hope there is a quick fix. If not, pray for the offending party to release a patch. Sucking off Steve Balmer is a good way to get the balls rolling, pun intended.

Huh. Don't you have a soft drink spill in the lobby to clean up? :)

With many years of gaming I know how it is with problems. This ones no different. I'm no geek squad but my best guess could be you might have something that either requires updating or needs removal. As suggested before check all your hardware/software that could potentially give you pop ups saying it requires a restart or an update. I know for sure its not a game issue, but you could always try to re-install. Yeah I hate saying it and I know it takes eternity to install if you don't have the physical disk. As for the removal part you could have some spyware, its best to scan up your PC and see if you got any demons that got through to you. A virus scan wouldn't hurt either. ahhhh_crap wrote:no, splinter has ethics and whut has emotions

I have done the updates on everything I could think of. From everything I have read I am not the only one with this problem. Most everyone has gotten this with the most recent update of iwnet. I cannot play sp or mp without it happening. Freakin grrrrrrr

If the problem is on iwnet side then the only thing you can do is wait for a 2nd patch to fix the crashing. Not much you can do now >.<. ahhhh_crap wrote:no, splinter has ethics and whut has emotions

My computer knowledge is much less than most of you guys but I am persistent and usually find a fix. Not possible when I have to wait on someone else.

Oh....Hah! Sorry Razor. When you were playing with Shadow the other day, I kept knifing you since you weren't moving. XD Now I know what was up. I feel a little guilty, but not too bad since Shadow had cheats on without knowing it, and the game didn't count.
