So l was bumping around on amazon when l came across this pearl of internet advertising. I'm not sure if it was designed on some formula on how to pull the most heart strings and no one bothered to make sure that it made sense or if their advertising department just isn't that smart. Either way, how did this get on amazon without someone saying, "hey boss, that doesn't make any sense." Your thoughts?

It's possible the orphan refers to his shelter-mates as "family." Still kind of a stretch, though. Safety + Peace

Ok, so I checked out their site. All their quotes sound really fishy. Really stiff, really scripted, really like bullet points from the sales pitch, and really not like poor, uneducated, Africans. Quote:Goats fight hunger: Rose’s story “If my daughter was not given a goat last year, we would have faced serious food problems,” says Rose’s father, who struggles to care for his family of nine in Chad. “We sold one of the two kids [born to] the goat to pay for food.” Adds 10-year-old Rose, “I am happy that World Vision cares about me. The goats are like our bank account and everybody in the family makes sure that they are looked after.”

Maybe he meant that his family ate the goat and was saved from the horrible death of starvation. He is an orphan because everyone else in his family died from an intestinal parasite contracted from the goat. You guys always think the worst of people. Aren't you ashamed now?

Except that isn't the point of the goats, they are there to produce milk, more goats, and fetilizer (crap). Its a really good idea, its just the entire site and its ads sound strange. http://www.worldvision.o...pages/gift-catalog-goats

Charity navigatorActually, they have a good rating -- 86% of the money they raise actually goes to projects. Charity Navigator is a good site to use to check out whether to give to any particular organization. They do need to get a new copy writer though. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. I'm glad its not a scam but really, I'm not a copywriter or even a person skilled at writing and *I* could do better than that. EDIT: The president of it is making $376,799 a year. he is profiting rather well from his non-profit organization. This brings a bad taste to my mouth. $376,799 buys a lot of goats.

If you didn't have parents then technically you are "the family". EDIT: Plus if there were multiple children, then you would all be orphans, yet still family. Definition of Orphan: –noun 1. a child who has lost both parents through death, or, less commonly, one parent.
