If it were me I would spring for new shocks. I'm pretty sure the old ones would work in a pinch, however they were designed to work at stock ride height so with a lowered stance you could experience some decreased performance.

Most of the time, you'll have to go with different shocks -- especially if you drop more than 2". You may need to get some low-profile tires too depending on the wheel well clearance. Dodge lowerering kit"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"

Any advice will be helpful. So do you plan on dropping it yourself? Because unless you are pretty savvy, and have access to a garage, its going to be a bitch to just try and figure out. I replaced front ends through college, did alignments, replaced shocks and struts, brakes. Its not that its rocket science...its just that you really need to be able to do teh following to make it less frustrating: 1. Lift the truck off the ground by its chassis. 2. I hope the kits have new springs or you better have access to cutters or torches, etc...because depending on what you want to do...you will have to cut (or replace) the springs. _ side note_ if you cut your springs incorrectly it with either fuck up your ride, force you to buy new springs, make it impossible to align, etc. I just have seen some guys do it fine eyeballing it, and others walk into a nightmare. once we ghetto heated and dropped this guys caddie a couple inches by just torching the springs and then compressing them until they cooled. It was epic because we got lucky and did it perfect, but it was GHHHEEETTOO. 3. replace shocks (easy on a truck, but faster with pneumatic tools) - a 4 inch drop will eat the range of motion and easily bottom out a OEM shock. Expect a stiff ride if you don't do it. 4. Get it realigned. - which you wont be able to do yourself. Point being: Find someone who has done work to help you if you are new at it. I have always been nervous ever since this guy brought in his truck that he lowered, well he ALMOST brought it in...he almost killed himself just getting to the shop because he didn't adequately reconnect his right side outer Tie rod and it broke loose...he lost steering and went careening into a ditch. Hey Shig
This is a lot bigger project than the advertisements lead you to believe. You are going to need a lot of tools, and unless you do this all the time, probably tools you don’t have. Here are some questions to ask yourself before taking this on:
1.) Have you made a list of what needs to be done? Step by step. 2.) Do you have all of the tools required? ˝â€ť drive minimum. 3.) What if a bolt/nut won’t budge, how do I get it off? 4.) What is the new angle of the driveshaft in relation to the rear end? An excessive angle will cause problems with you U joints. 5.) Will the tires clear at full suspension travel? 6.) Any modifications to exhaust, cables, hoses. 7.) Does the steering linkage need to move. 8.) New brackets for shocks or new shocks. 9.) Etc.
I worked on professional race trucks and if someone came to me and asked to lower or lift a truck, I would say sure give me a week, longer if I need to modify something. That’s with a fully equipped race shop.
