So So Cal (actually somewhere closer to baja cal) had an uneventful eath quake a few weeks ago. No too strong just kinda a swaying once or twice. I did grab the kid and got outside but it was over pretty much before it started as usual.

Time passed.

Heres the thing that was strange. I was standing in my kitchen and leaning against the counter talking to my wife that had just gotten home from work. I stopped her mid sentance and said " do you feel shaking?" She said "no" and gave me a wierd look. I said " Are you sure you don't feel that?" She said "No, look at the hanging plant or your guitars on the wall they are not moving."

This conversation took place when the Hati earthquake happened. I just didnt see the new until the next morning.

I have never thought of myself to be in anyway intuitive. I had felt so strongly at the time that I was shaking and got that nauseating feeling like when your trying to balance on a moving object.

I laughed at myself for thinking like Obe'wan, as if there was a disturbance in the force, but really I do believe in the interconnectivity of things just didn't think I was connected. Duh huh?

To me I just seem to be rambling and possibly reading into this a bit much. The skeptic in me says "you just had an earthquake a few ago and it was still in your mind rolling about".

I wouldn't be surprised if you were a jedi. You're already a badass afghanistan-deliveryboy, rockstar, dope soldier player, big dick having alligator wrestler, weren't you also a soldier? Why not add jedi to the list.

Proof animals can sense quakes, and therefore maybe humans can.

I have had weird experiences like that before. Honestly - it is kind of spooky.

When I was in high school, we had a very bad year in my family. When my cousin died, and we got the call, I KNEW exactly what had happened before my mother told us. Details and all.

I have "feelings" about family members sometimes when they are in trouble.

I don't doubt that you would feel something.

It has not happened in awhile but I use to occasionally have that overwhelming sense of dread then something bad would happen. I hated that feeling because it never pointed to anyone or anything in particular.

I do this with small tremors that happen here in so-cal, the ones that you can't really feel. I get this sort of pin and needles sensation on the back of my neck, and latter I will see the news that there was a 2.0 or something at that time.

I strongly believe that we're all interconnected in some way or another, especially with those we are close with. I wouldn't doubt that you felt something real at the same time as the haitian earthquake.

I don't doubt for an instant that you're able to sense something like that. It seems that some people are able to sense unique things. Proof that we're more than just bags of muscles and bones? Or just our relationship to the planet and one another? That's always going to be up for debate...

For me it's not so much Earthly (that's a word, right?) things so much as human emotions. A person's emotions (particularly if they're very strong) almost have a physical effect on me. I can sense it; it changes the air pressure around me, that's the best way to describe it. It's very easy for me to sense when someone is happy, sad or angry. I can sense this with almost everyone, not just my close friends and family (though it certainly gets stronger the more I get to know someone).

It appears like the dog just hears it or maybe feels the slight vibrations in the floor preceeding the big hit. It was lying on the floor.

I personally don't believe there is anything magical about this other than the difference between the dog and the people is that People are always self absorbed in something or themselves. They don't pay attention to thier surroundings much anymore.

Dogs have amazing senses. They aren't magical or anything. They can just sense so many things from humans, whether through smell, sight, sound, or vibrations.

My dog could recognize our cars a block away. When my mom would start driving down our road, he would run to the door.

1. do dogs that have never lived through an earthquake before react in the same way?
2. if so, how do they know the difference between the beginning vibrations of an earthquake and the vibrations we experience every day? (boomin system, slammed doors, large trucks etc)

1. Well I think there is a distinction between the discussion on the ability to sense a quake, and the behavioral reaction to it. But it seems to me that flight is usually the default reaction to for most animals (humans included) when they encounter something unexpected, powerful, and unknown. So I would say yes, in most instances the reaction would be similar despite experience. The time to comprehend the danger may be delayed slightly without experience.
2. Probably the same way a person does.

Yeah the dog just felt the vibration about 2 seconds before (:06 in the video) because it was lying on the floor. if you watch the video, the dog looks down at the floor, feels the vibration, and runs at :07. the office appears calm, but at :08 seconds if you look to the left side of the office, the tan filing cabinet drawer begins to slid out on its own, suggesting it is being vibrated open. Then a couple seconds later, the big shaking hits. He big guy also "preceives" the big hit because he gets up and runs about 1.5 seconds before the large shock hits.
