Includes multiplayer. I loved the old AvP game, great for LANs, especially when you had all 3 races going.

GASP! What ever do you mean? I'm looking forward to this game.

EDIT: It seems Steam will be getting a demo version of AvP starting tomorrow (Thursday)!!! Sweeeet.

can.. hardly... contain.... EXCITMENT!

WOO AVP!

Formally known as MrT
The film "Brokeback Mountain" was originally pitched as an off-beat romance starring MrT and WhutDuFuk. The sole reason the two legends declined the starring roles is because if MrT and WhutDuFuk were to kiss, there would be new meaning to the word homosexual...it would mean "obligation".

Does this mean we all need to get this game?

Played it for a bit, few impressions:

-No dedicated server hosting. This is a trend I refuse to stick around to see get bigger.
-The control scheme is not as fluid as I had hoped compared to AvP2. There is a bit of awkwardness when it comes to wall walking and dismounting. I kind of miss the wall-walk toggle button the old game used to have which made it MUCH easier in my opinion. This might change over time for me though.
-The predator is horrible. It's no so much that the character sucks in general as it is the fact you start out with nothing other than your claws. The alien doesn't use weapons and therefore starts out with full capabilities. The marine starts out with a machine gun. This is kind of an annoying balance issue.
-Blocking is a little weird, especially with the grab animations.
-The animations are fucking awesome.
-I kind of miss the old predator hud with the awesome symbols as health and energy. I also miss the energy syphen.
-I miss the huge alien pouncing

I don't know. I have mixed feelings from the demo.

I like it. Predator is indeed pretty lame to start with, but on the plus side you're guaranteed to kill an alien as long as you don't let them sneak up on you. You're a little weak against marines though.

Alien is my favorite. I dig this game, I never played the originals. Will buy it.

I just got done playing a few rounds. I enjoy it thus far, seems alittle clunky...but I'm still working out my config map to what works best. I loved the Predator in the first one and will stick will him for this one. Its quite easy to find your weapons w/ Focus view. His claws are pretty dangerous just by themselves

On the dedicated servers issue, might want to read this..

The following is a press release from Rebellion Developments Ltd:

We've identified an issue with the matchmaking system that is causing the very long wait times to get into a PC game, and hope to release an update shortly which addresses this.

In the meantime players can ease connection issues by getting together with a group of players before entering matchmaking. Inviting friends or joining players via the Steam overlay will help work around the issue. If you need help finding players you can join one of the community groups, e.g. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/AVPI.

In addition to the matchmaking functionality the full game features dedicated servers, server browsers, and the ability to host games directly

Also there is a auto wall walk feature that you can turn on in the control options...maybe that will help?

Phew, that is a bit of a relief with the dedicated servers. I'll play around with some of those options and see if I can get it to feel more like home for me.

I downloaded the demo, but due to various connectivity issues and a slow CPU, I can only offer my thoughts on the menus and load screen. In about twenty minutes of attempting to play, I was actually in-game munching on faces (I play alien) for a total of three minutes. If that.

That said, the design work is fantastic. No lag between screens, a problem which still pervades the most advanced games today. Everything flowed very well--it felt like I was working with something from this universe, which is a great thing for a menu to do. Information was laid out very intuitively, I had my video options and audio settings configured literally within seconds of deciding to do so. Matchmaking took a bit, but that's by-no-means the menu's fault. The loading screens are also fun. Non-static images make me rage a lot less given that I was loading the game for a good six-seven minutes. Fortunately, this substantial wait gave me the chance to properly absorb the background noises--various ominous scratches and beeps playing between my headphones--overall a very immersive menu/loading experience. I had a lot of fun. I can't wait to play the game.

I played it in some small deathmatches today. It plays remarkably close to the original, as I remember it. Its a little brighter, overall, but still worth it to take out lights if you are the xenos races. I found it most worth my time to take out lights as the predator....because the less light around actually significantly reduces the marines and aliens detection of the cloak "shimmer".

Alien is exactly the same, crazy turning and space orientation challenges....difficult to master, but for those who can...makes them the most dangerous players in the server.

Marines are actually pretty fun to play as well. You aren't nearly as weak as newbs might think if you have a head on your shoulders and the initiative. If you don't catch them unaware, and try to fight them heads up....you will probably lose the fight to a halfway decent marine player.

I like it and will probably buy it...great Lan party game and friends list game... the infestation multiplayer mode is bound to get tons of lolz.

haha I fuckin owned y'all as a marine. Actually that was after you dropped out Giller.. I was doing pretty well as Alien, actually I still think thats my best and funnest class (when I was ownin as marine there were a lot of noobs)

i had gone for a while without playing it and I thought it was gonna be weak. Au contraire. The motion detector helps a lot. There were some great times where Jase tried sneaking up on me and I saw him on the detector and the corner of my screen, so when he approached I would just jerk and unload on him (giggity). It gets a little iffy when they manage to get close to you though.. if you unload on them the muzzle flash takes up a LOT of the screen and I found myself unloading 1/3 a clip and when I stop shooting the aliens gone. FUUUUCK makes the game pretty fun and movie-like but god damn does that suck.

Predators are still pretty hard to encounter in certain situations. I distinctly remember mobbing down one hall, I saw cecilsan poke his invisible head around the corner and by the time I got my gun out and started shooting a spinning blade had cut my head off. FUCK!
