Turns out taking my PC to the electronic butchers was a horrifyingly bad idea, not only did they not help me, they fucked my OS to where its swaying just out of reach of being unworkable, a good chunk of system files are missing, the PC reboots in an extremely strange way, I can't even view "My Computer" properties. And as I tried to play the AvP demo with a couple of you guys last night my sound setting is so fucked up that my ingame sound is literally being sent out causing a feedback loop.

The computer can no longer recognize the TV so I'm back on my 21" monitor instead of the 42" screen. The OS itself is running extremely sluggish and almost snail slow to where it just took like over 30 seconds just to bring up the calculator program. They also caused physical damage to my case in which the faceplate no longer "clicks in" to where its supposed to since the clips have been broken off. And just to top it all off they left a 100 MB file sitting in my recycle bin. I unfortunately payed 60 bucks to come out of that bloody store with less of a PC then when I came in with.

They also said it would only take 24 hours. My PC was over there 4 days.

Fortunately not all is a loss, did some google searches and turns out the file left in my recycle bin is the program they use to analyze a PC's software. Which so happens to come with a dandy decent virus / spyware cleaner.

Geek Squad is a lie, they are completely unprofessional and they don't even have their shit organized. It took them 4 ugly days to give me 7 sheets of paper full of what I already knew about my software, even then their report isn't even correct, by their claim I have less then 1 GHz processor which its actually 2.20 GHz, my ram is less then 512 MB which I'm actually at 3 gigs, my HD is less then 20 gigs with less then 15 gigs of free space which I have 2 HD's 1 75 gigs with 93% free space, and 300 gigs with 90% free space. My video card is less then 32 mb memory which its 1 gig x2. I have no DVD drives which I have 2, and no audio card which I got 2.

Take it from me, if your gonna need help with ur PC, take it to one of those little PC shops hidden in your town somewhere. Ive had much better experiance with them since they seem to know what they are talking about and know how to at least put the side panel back on. The day I went to pick it up one of the guys who tried to put the side panel back on didn't slide it in properly in the front so the teeth were on the outside instead of the inside of the chassis, and since the back locks in once its slide in all the way he tried to rip the entire side panel back, he also tried to bend the forward area out to try and dislodge it from the lock.

My mouth completely fell in "aww wtf are you doing". I came so close to bitch slapping the guy and push him out of the way so I could do it.

I had to chuckle reading this. When I was unemployed my wife told me I should work for the Geek Squad. I don't mind screwing my own stuff up but I refuse to do it to someone else's.

Dont blame geek squad for that it happened to me too. Consequences of having a booming system and a really sensitive mic.

I find it technically impossible considering I unplugged my mic from my computer and the mic was STILL transmitting sound.

You don't have the full picture here....

Back in November of last year I sufffered a complete computer meltdown. All 3 of my HD's were 90% wiped clean of all files, and the OS no longer worked. Fine, did a quick re-install of windows (First time installing windows since I got the PC)

Tried to recover as much data as I possibly could. January 2010 unavoidably had to install windows again (2nd time) since the OS was installed on a heavily corrupted HD so it ran terribly slow, booting the system took well over 5 mins from the time I push the power button till it finishes loading all the startup programs.

Few days pass, when I tried to turn my PC on something went horribly screwy, my system didn't want to boot up... again only option for me is to install windows (3rd time)

Another few days pass, my system again didn't want to boot up. This time my PC was stuck in a loop, right after the windows logo comes up the computer would instantly restart. Booting in safe mode failed, booting in "last good known config" failed. AGAIN had to re-install windows (4th time)

Now getting my PC back from Geek Squad, my OS is once again screwed up but this time it was due to what they did to my system. I know this for a fact as before I took my system to them I had just did a fresh install of windows 4th time, and my 1st HD had about 8 gigs of windows system files. Checking now my HD is down to 6 gigs used space, and the OS isn`t operating properly.

So now once again I have to re-install windows for the 5th time, 4th time within a month. The reason I'm so pissed is cause installing windows takes time, updating takes time, installing all drivers for all my components takes time. Re-installing all my games takes the most time. It takes well over 3 or so hours just to get the system back to just how I like it.

I've honestly never herd of anyone being forced to install windows on the same system 5 times with at least 4 times well within 1 month alone. So as you can see its not as simple as "just re-install windows" since thats basically all I've been doing the past month. Not being able to keep the system stable as like before November 2009 just doesn't seem possible anymore. I'm at the point of being tierd of having to install windows.

Unfortunately I'm not gonna install ANOTHER windows till I get some crap done. Also as I hate to say but installing Windows 7 isn't an option for me right now. Too expensive, besides I've been using windows XP since 2002 when I finally upgraded from windows ME. My mom herself has windows vista and even I have a hard time trying to fix her laptop when theres a problem since I literally have about 2 hours in total experiance with vista. Never having been able to use windows 7 beta I don't know absolutely nothing about it. I would at least need a good day or so playing around with the OS before I would feel more comfortable.
