In an hour of Darkness a blind man is the best guide. In an age of Insanity look to the madman to lead the way.

*thumbs down*

I like Apple where they are: in the hands of the trendy people who prefer "cute" over "cool". It helps me to know who to avoid. Gamers should never prefer "cute".

We should implement slashdot modding so I could mod this up.

lol. Macfag here. How's it feel knowing the sole bastion of PC ownership is slowly being molested like us Mac users are uncle jerry when he invited you to go camping so many years ago? Does it feel wrong? Does it hurt a little bit? umad?

not really. the video was awesome, and I really liked the original commercial. This really just makes me want to play HL2 again (and it is installing right now)

Evidence of an Apple user: trolling about getting support for something any PC user has had for years now. Seriously though, I don't think it's a bad thing. If I ever went the Mac route I could now play my steam games on the operating system. I don't plan on doing that though because it doesn't change the fact that back-to-back hardware cost of an Apple computer versus building a rig yourself for gaming purposes is still horribly outrageous. Even in the unlikely event that Apple completely dominates computing in the future, PC gaming will likely die rather than Apple taking any control of it. Steve Jobs most likely doesn't play computer games so most Apple users probably won't want to play them either.

Eh.. not the sole bastion. I like PCs foremost for the ease and affordability of building them, which I've been doing since I was 14 or so. Since I was 10, if you count putting more memory in a Tandy 1000.

And.. how many Apple servers are out in the world? I've never seen a single one. All PCs, running either Windows or Linux.

Look up xserve, xsan, Mac OS X Server, Final Cut Server
Definitely not intended for external server usage e.g. hosting, etc., but more along the lines of internal distribution. Some of the stuff it can do is insane. Bottlenecks are virtually unheard of even with multiple terabytes flowing through a network.

Original 1984 Apple video on which the above is based:

You should be more like Cantrip.

Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ."
GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit."
Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. "
WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore."
GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD"
llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!"
Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

I love the irony behind that commercial considering Apple is one of the most closed, user-controlling platforms of modern computing now.
