So I'm at work, and I'm done. I still have 32 minutes until I'd leave normally. Naturally, I hop on wdfnews.com and share my brainmeats with you guys. I'm trying to figure out what is best - a task based job, or a time based job. I mean, if I have a list of what I need to get done during the day, then I'm going to crank that baby out and leave...but if I'm being payed by the hour, then there's even less than zero incentive to work fast. You gotta fill out your time or else you'll get paid less. ...so whats up with that? I know its logistically impossible to pay that way for some jobs, but still...if I finish really fast and work at my peak efficiency, I get payed less?? =\ SUBMIT. Insanity! Figure out a way to have fun while doing something for the company. Like code a new augmented reality office. Quote:Razor: As hard as one might try no one will ever be able to pull one over on Super Penguin. Backpack of Win

My job is composed of 3 things: fixing things, making sure things don't break, and projects. As for the first 2, things breaking doesn't happen that often because of #2, and #2 is pretty well established because the network has been in place for a long time. But the way I think about it, I'm not there because things break for 8 straight hours, but because all hell could be unleashed on the network during those 8 hours, and I need to be there in case it does, similar to how a fireman is payed for being on call. As for the projects, I'm currently working on our planned Windows 7 deployment for over the summer, and since I am developing and testing our unattended install, about 75% of my time waiting for it to reinstall to test changes. Some days, I feel guilty if I spent a lot of time surfing the net because I had nothing better to do, but then again, I'm not about to tell HR to only pay me for 2 hours.

Yeah. Like right now, I have to wait for at least 20 minutes before I can go on to the next step for my job (I'm making some occlusal guards). So I'm on the internet. Part of me knows that I should put in my 100% and just do the maximum amount of work. It'll show I'm a hard worker and I'll maybe get some benefits from it. Ethically, thats probably what I should be doing. =l Bragr, your job makes more sense to just be sitting there waiting for fires to be put out...I guess. Penguin...whaaat?
