The hl2ctf stax became effective on the Tomb today.. The very same ranks that we have been working so hard on other servers we can now work on right here in our very own backyard!

Just got a look at the nonsense that Illenta is referring too on the CTF forums.. It would seem like a few of the wannabe CTF gods want to take the stats away from the masses of leisure players who enjoy em. They are upset because the current stats give bonuses to lower ranked/lesser skilled players in the number of points that the noobs gets for killing the top gun players. This is what I refered to before as I get bunches of points for killing mr VDUS whoever and Mr Vdus whoever gets only a couple for killing me.
The one real idea to keep new people in the game and give em something to hope for in knocking off the better players and now these people want to kill it. They want to see Mr Noob come into game and enjoy getting killed dozens of times over and over by the gaming addicts that live on these servers day and night and for absoultely no incentive at all. Hey Mr. Top Gunner player I am just starting out here but my only reason to exist on this server is to get get killed by you 10 times before I ever get to take one step. If I am somehow lucky enough to get kill you ever once in awhile I will get nothing more for it than what you get for every time you killed me a dozen times in a row. '
Do you really think this will make new players wanna stay in this mod? The mod will only end up being left with the few addicts we have now because nobody else will ever want to start out new in the game.
People on CTF forums are taking this ranking stuff WAY too seriously. Right now the first priority of this mod should be getting new players to play this game. If is self defeating to sacrifice the new player to appease the egos of a few juveniles who gets their feelings hurt cause new people get a points advantage on em. As those new people start to move up in points then they too become handicapped as even new players get more points for kills than they do. That is the way it should be.

i had a nice little (long) reply in the CTF forums that would fix the issue they were talking about. i said to drop the rankings completely. i totally agree that if you are good, people will know your name and not care about what rank you are. the problem that they are complaining about over there is that people are leaving the servers because they are losing points on their rank for being killed. they don't want people to leave the servers, in fact they are trying to recruit more people to play the game. thats the big issue right now.

rankings are mostly bullshit. I enjoy seeing them because it can give you a general idea about relative skills and all that but they really don't mean much of anything, especially once you get up above a certain rank. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

They are a basesfor a goal, and you can see if you have been improving in you KD, or if you camping skills are steller. I say keep'em. I like what you guys put while I was away, but I think it was best that I changed it.

Been playing good ol regular deathmatch on the TSGK servers lately which have the DM version of the same statistics.. Got mine up to 16K and still going.. I think this shit is fun even though people are making 100 points on killing me now.. The stats are set up a little differntly for CTF the biggest spread you can get there is 10. You make ground and you give ground depending on the players you are playing with. It really dont matter if you lose a few points cause you usually get em back when some bigger jackpot than yourself comes around.
Its sorta like that old gunfighter thing. The bigger and badder your reputation is the more young guns you are gonna have coming after ya to build a reputation for themselves. Such is the way things have always been and always will be..
Give a tip to you Newbies.. There is a big fat jackpot o' points that comes around here every so often by the name of BSNOOCH. You knock off this fat cat a time or two and your score will go flying..

Actually, I never really cared about points or rank. They're fun, but what's more fun is having a standoff with another team at 1 flag a piece for the duration of the map. Now, THATS a game.
