Bored, i waddled into the FC and my god was I impressed by this map, (CTF demise for those who forgot the topic).  i know you all have played it and i dont know why i didnt make mention of it before (prolly cuz of GivePeace's map suggestions), but this map needs to make at least the voting booth.

If you haven't played it, Its like the size of a shoebox and has two elevated platforms, each with stairs on both sides, partitioned by a canyon/rocky-like area. Mossy textures.

Well this map is like pedestal on meth. The entire time it was just madness. never have i heard the flag shit spouting out dropped returned taken capped so fast.

in summation, i feel this map would be a great addition to the server. Thank You... San Dimas High School Football Rules!!!

Mr WDF and I have talked about this one. I think it is a safe bet to say that it is coming. My only real concern about demise is that our max player count is a bunch more than the fight club. If we ever get close to being full like the old days this map could become a real mess. You yourself said it was the size of a shoebox and I agree with that. I also agree that it that it is fun as hell.

What is the general thinking you guys have about atomic garden as well. If the desire is strong enough this also might be a possibitiy.

Whut: I have the source zip on this and I think Demise is a good place to start some of the things we have talked about. I just have a couple of more questions when I catch up with you again.

bring on the madness!
I personally love it when maps are overloaded with players and it's total chaos. Is it possible to do a per map time limit? i.e. tiny maps = reduced time (too much insanity makes my hand hurt).

ctf_demise came on over the weekend and no one could play. We all got an error saying we didn't have the map - the server for some reason didn't offer it to us for download. it was very sad :(

maybe whut, in his loads of free time, can put this map (along with the others) in the download section so that we can download them all at uber fast speeds and not have to worry about trying to get them when we join the game.

Yes Snooch.

Grumpy was all amped for it, and we were all like "Okay", and the seventeen of us dropped off the server like a waterfall.

Several mintues later the map changed so like 4 people were on after that

Stupid server and it's stupidity. If only it would have let us download...we could have packed it

Heh heh...

That was not one of my better moments.. Thanks Guys

Anyway.. the problems with the map download have been worked out and the map is available for voting. Don and I had a game on it last night which went pretty good. His side won 20-0 but the map loaded fine for everybody and a good time was had so I have to be happy with that.

(Whut: as I know you are wondering what happened. Directions did not include the step to actually click the read and read & execute rights. I had to figure this out by looking at maps that were working properly. Issue solved so you can go back to sleep now boss.)

Anyway the map is there and should be available with no problem when it comes up for vote. An admin can also load it for you. It has been made available in admin options for change map so all admins can reach it from the drop down menus. I am not all that comfortable on how the map would do under large player loads so I dont know if I see this one going into the regular rotation. I am seeing this as more of a late night thing when we would have 10 -12 players at the most.

You may also see atomic garden come up from time to time but be aware this is not the version we have all played on fight club. Instead of the new CTF weapons there are alot of the older items laying around like orbs and rpgs. I am going to see if I can line up one of our resident mappers to see if they can remove those items and put in some of the newer weapons. There are also WAY too many runes laying around on this version. I think it was modified for the fight club and I think we are going to have to have it modified to have it work for us as well.  This one will probably remain admin load only unless we can get it changed. I dont think it is currently worth a spot on the votelist.

If you set iuser_pwnzord you shouldn't have to put read and write boxes... especially write access, as it will potentially allow people to alter the file.

no write access .. just read and read&execute .. before i set these i added the iuser and it just disappeared and the download did not work .. came back set these as they were set on the files that did work.. the iuser then stuck and the download worked.. I am guess that by not setting any options it is presumed i did not want to make changes and everything was ignored.

I have a mapper that is going to work on demise and speed it up to what he says will be faster than fight clubs.. I am going to work on him to get him to modernize atomic garden for us

Oh yeah..

I forgot .. I have files for portalstorm and circular..

Questions for those in the know.. These maps worth messing with? I dont like portal all that much myself and I have never even play circular. Circular is the Curved which is what most of us have seen on the FC.
