I had an Asus A7V8X-MX with an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ with a 333 fsb.

For ram, I've got a stick of 1024 MB of PC2700 non-ECC 184 pin DDR dimm and a stick of 512 PC2100 blah blah blah.

Vid card is a Power Color Radeon 9600XT. AGP slot, 4x or 8x, cant remember.

I need a new mobo that i can port everything over from the old one to the new one to. help please

Well, if you wanted to only replace the motherboard, then I'd suggest getting an ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe if you can find one. I've still got mine up and running since 2003 with an overclocked 1700+

I would suggest Fry's since theyre the only place that seems to still have socket A motherboards, but they are a little pricey. Also if you see an Abit NF7-S Rev2 I'd say go for that if its the same or lower in price.

If you want to do that, then get an ASRockDual939 and a 3800X2. You can pick up the motherboard for around $50-70 and the processor for around $140. If you want something cheaper than you can probably go with a 3700+ San Diego core for around $70

Oh well, if it wasn't bad enough before, Its gotten worse.

I just droped some cash on an Asus A8N-NM and an AMD 64 3800+

They gave my the wrong one.

I got socket AM2 instead of 939.

Return it and get another board, the ASRock Dual should be the board to get since it has a real AGP and PCI-e slot.

Re: the 939Dual - I have one and it is sweet. It's only got an A64 3000+ in it (OC'd of course) but it has a slot for an AM2 riser card, so not only can I upgrade from my AGP card to a PCI-E card eventually but I can also upgrade from my 939 to an AM2 CPU (have to replace the RAM tho, stupid DDR2!). For a "cheap" board it's pretty bad-ass. Not the best overclocker on the planet, but it does the job. Built-in audio mysteriously crapped out on it once but after some driver trickery it revived and has had no further issues.

It's actually a pretty damn good OC mobo. With modified bios's that are easily found (xtremesystems.org) you can get a bios that'll allow the board to get way higher than 300mhz on the FSB
