Has anyone else notice that I totally suck at HL2CTF now? I don't know what the hell happened. I was on my way to breaking 10,000 points - I could hold my own against nearly anyone except the best of the best. Now I've dropped off the top 50. The last few times I have played I lost something like 800 points. I suck. I don't know what happened, but I just can't hit a thing anymore. I get beat down by noobs. Someone stole my fucking mojo! I had to completely relearn everything from scratch because of the transition. I was the typical Tomb xbow whore in DM match, but when it came to anything else - nades, mag, shotgun, I blew it out my ass. This is just a different game, and a different crowd. You are still a hotshot with the mag and you can pwn anyone with it. Do you know how to nade launch and wall jump real well? What you can't do aim wise, you can make up in agility. Also, points don't mean crap on this game. The point system is still in debate on the CTF forums, because it doesn't really say anything when a noob gets 90 points for spamming you, and you get 2 points for headshotting them with a mag. Not to mention anyone can get points if they contantly cap the flag and avoid firefights as much as possible. You're still very good. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name

I can wall jump OK most of the time. Sometimes I'm really on with it, sometimes not so much. Nade cooking I suck at. I kill/injure myself about as often as I hurt someone else. I rarely kill anyone with nades. I actually sucked with the Mag in HL2DM - I never really used it because it was like shots never connected. I've grown to love it though (mostly, I've sucked with it recently). I do miss the xbow whoredom of old. I think my biggest issue is just feeling like I can't kill anyone - I run around pumping my shotty and then whoever I'm shooting turns around and knocks me down in one blow. Compared to how I was going up in points every time I played and feeling like there were only a handful of people who could really tear me apart, it's just like the opposite now. I think I really do need to just practice the wall jumping and nade cooking more and maybe tweak my settings some to get better FPS - I notice some of the more open maps I really start to chunk on when there is a lot of action and it screws my aim. Everyone has their bad days...or weeks. I wouldnt worry about it. just play to enjoy yourself, and don't worry about the lame point system.  When drunk and can't aim for your life, trust the crowbar.  OMG LOOK AT THE AWESOME HL PROGRESS!

well as long as you have fun playing stats are meaningless. i used to be uber good on the old Tomb. then i stopped caring about the stats and started mapping. now i spend way more time mapping then playing. so when i play i totally suck too, but it doesn't matter. just because everybody knows i suck doesn't mean i can't go out there and have a good time killing people. you should stop caring about your stats and your points, i started enjoying the game a lot more once i stopped carring. im sure you just in a slump, we all get them.

I don't care about my stats necessarily, I can see how the points system is clearly flawed. I was using them more as a measurement of my declining skills, even if they aren't wholly accurate objectively, they reflect my subjective experience. I feel like I suck. Although I was doing fairly well with the xbow last night. I think another factor in my decline is that I just haven't had as much time to play as before. I think I hit my peak on the old Tomb during a week my wife was out of town - I got to play a few hours per day every day for several days straight. Re: Funness - I still enjoy HL2CTF, but feeling like you are just getting beat down and none of your shots are registering has made things less fun. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.
