I swear hammer makes me wanna cry at least once everytime I use it. Valve has done both good and bad jobs updating it and fixing bugs. The worst is when the program crashes for no reason, right before you were about to save. :o So I figured I would make a list of stuff I have found that makes HAMMER crash... ! PROPERTIES BOX CRASH - If you have a map open with any number of objects selected and you have opened their properties (alt+enter), if you CLOSE the map BEFORE you close the properties box when you go to close the properties box HAMMER crashes. ! DISPLACEMENT CRASH - If you have a map with displacements and you have the edit displacement box open (shift+a ---->Displacements tab ---->paint geometry/alpha), and you CLOSE the map BEFORE you close the edit box, HAMMER dies when you go to close the edit box. hmm. Hope that makes sense? I will add more as I find them. You wanna take this to Fuck Town?

if you make perfab stairs and try to carve with then it will crash hammer also. WDF?: I found a hot girl WDF?: Who lets me WDF?: Drink WDF?: Smoke WDF?: And play video games WDF?: ALL DAY shignog: and in the back door? WDF?: She's back door compatible WDF?: And it comes enabled by default WDF?: I need to teach sirus a lesson WDF?: Oh wait WDF?: That's called gay shignog: if there is a girl there its bi WDF?: lol WDF?: ok shignog: so its not so gay WDF?: Good enough

So I suspect that a stable map creation tool is still a figment of our imaginations.
Althou StarCraft had a really stable map maker. (even if it was only because it was so bloody simple)

Ya i was tring to be lazy and use prefab stairs to carve with but it didnt work and i learned my lesson. actually using prefab stairs is probably a good shortcut. i use them on all my maps and i'm sure so do most people. but the carving tool can piss off hammer sometimes. especially when you use it on its own prefab shit. i have done it before, but trust me, some of the stuff that i do is just because i want to beat hammer and prove that i can do it. not because it really has to be done. i really hate loosing battles to computers, it pisses me off and i probably waste more time then needed just to make sure that i can do it.
