Had to be the first no...I mean I see as this.  This is basically the second server...the less popluar one if you compare to Crypt.  Now what maps are voted on is what should do it.  Meaning Ctf Bedroom or what ever it is...that gets voted a lot for.  As well as 2 fort of course and well maybe throw the now gone nuke football...

I figure put the maps people want...that will only hopefully bring more peeps...

oh how cute, its a migit 250.

i voted all dm maps in the mapcycle.  but i think there should be some ctf in the votelist.  that way they can be voted in just like dm maps can be voted in the crypt if thats what the majority of the people want to play.

Heh.. as usual.. I was just talking about doing something about this and someone shows up and beats me to the punch.. anyway the following transcripts more or less puts out where my line of thinking has been on the Graveyard..

[08:18] {pDs}Grumpy: i am also starting to think about breaking the graveyard off on its own mapcycle.. and doing a differnt kind of vision htere
[08:18] {pDs} Aww: graveyard?
[08:18] {pDs}Grumpy: used to be known as Crypt 2.. but i think Whut got a drunk on and renamed it again
[08:19] {pDs} Aww: he should stop that it confuses players looking for it, like me
[08:19] {pDs} Aww: Ii have been looking for crypt 2
[08:19] {pDs}Grumpy: is right now an exact copy of crypt but i have a new vision of a server that doesnt really fit what the crypt has become
[08:20] {pDs}Grumpy: which is more or less a rebirth of the old Tomb
[08:20] {pDs} Aww: one server hl2dm dm maps,  one server hl2dm  ctf maps?
[08:21] {pDs}Grumpy: they will both have both styles.. but as crypt emphasizes ctf over dm.. the graveyard will be the other way around
[08:21] {pDs}Grumpy: a larger dm presentation with some crf thrown in to change things up some
[08:21] {pDs} Aww: that sounds good, I miss the old Crypt
[08:22] {pDs}Grumpy: There are soooooo many dm maps out there that i just dont have space for on the current crypt
[08:22] {pDs}Grumpy: because i dont want to dilute the cycle of heavy ctf play

Grumpy and I will decide on a dm mapcycle that allows for ctf votes.

I voted no - I think an "almost all" DM mapcycle could be good - mix a few CTF and/or football maps in there, like 1 every fourth map or something. Combined with advertising for the Crypt and Tomb we could entice some people to the CTFness.

I have not had this discussion with Whut yet but since he and I seem to be more or less on the same page on this I think it is safe to say that this will indeed be a heavy dm map presentation with a minor taste of ctf. Of that ctf taste tho I do plan to empasize many of the ctf maps that are getting smothered on the crypt due to crowd size.

I suspect this will be just like the old days where the dm server never did get near the crowds that the ctf server did which should allow those smaller ctf maps to remain playable. Your nuke football would be  a good exampleof this. These small ctf maps would also remian votable on the crypt.

Sounds good to me, although I love being cramped into nuclear football with 30 other players. I've only played on "crypt2" once but if the crypt keeps up its pace there will be times when people won't be able to get in when they want to play (if there aren't already) so it'll be cool to have an overflow server.

I believe you can also forward people to another server when one is full. (Example: Crypt is full, so if a player clicks on it and wants to join he is automatically transfered and joins the Graveyard instead.)

For some odd reason hl2mp redirect has never worked with mani. Trench Foot One overflows into Two... so yeah.

OK Guys...

Today is the day that Graveyard grows up to become its own server.

Sort of like when a radio station changes formats it plays nothing but the music for the first days in order to draw listeners to it. Well this is gonna go sorta of the same way. We are gonna roll a cycle of straight arena_b6 in order to start drawing attention from the DM players out there. This is the map that I think will most catch peoples attentions as they flip through listing after listing of DM servers out there. We are also going to let lose with a votemaplist of 10 of the best dm maps I can think of and 2 ctf maps that have not been able to see much time on crypt because of player numbers. These ctf maps are pedestal and nuke football. As the Graveyard begins to pick up steam then the cycle will become more and more diverse with the most popular dm maps from the votemaplist.

Because of the small cycle  initially I am going to allow votemaps almost at the very start of the game. This will allow players to change the map most any time they want to no matter if the map just started or not. This will be changed back to the stand two minutes later after more maps are added to the cycle

Remember the intent with this one is develop a very intensive DM map server. Ctf maps here will be the afterthought here to break up the routine a little..
