ok im my new motherboard i got 4 sata 2 ports and 2 ide ports, now i have a 80 sata drive runing windows. And when i try to hook up one one of the ide dirves, it acts like there is no os installed on the harddrive. Anyone know why this is? Works just fine with the sata pluged in but when itry to plug in 1 or both 250 gig drives nothing. I was useing 1 of the 250 gigs to run windows in a partion, then i formated it and put it back in and still nothing. I would check your BIOS settings - could be a boot order issue. I'm pretty certain that my BIOS has a setting to choose whether to boot from IDE or SATA in addition to the boot order setting so look for something like that also. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

also make sure your master/slave setting are correct on your hard drives. its simple but i always overlook it and end up feeling stupid later.

yea the ide will take priority over the satas so you have to change the bios settings to let it know that you want to run the sata and not the ide. i thought i'd have a problem with the sata not having my os on it but when i tried it, the sata didn't load but the ide did so my initial intuition was wrong and satas dont take priority... just change the boot order to you sata 0 master and it should work.... i hope.

well now my mb will not boot, its either the ram or the mb, im thinking the mb cuz of the problems i had with it. I got my old mb out and hooked up everyhting and set everyhting in the bios(which i didi do on the new one) and it worked just fine. so im going to try to return it and get a new one or sell it and buy a new one.
