Hey guys,
I just wanted to know what you like more about DM than CTF. We have a huge number of people in DM, but the CTF active list is very tiny. Why? Post away! Pour all your grips in here..

my #1 problem with playing ctf is the fact that no one else plays. and it sucks practicing wall jumping all day.

Honestly, there are peeves about the mod I just don't like, and the fact that the developers will pull excuses out of there ass until Bush gets out of office for them to release 1.8 makes me more prone to not support their mod as much. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name

list specifically plz... And btw there are only two devs and they both have familys so yeah they cant release an update every couple of weeks. boo-fuckin-hoo oh yeah bike there was a guy named moe (aka alienguts) askin about you the other day. You wanna take this to Fuck Town?

CTF GRIPES: - i miss my uber bow (but thats not the fault of the mod)
- I hate the fucking nade jumping. its rediculous and it ruins the game for me.
- the nade damage needs to be equal to all players, not less to the persons who holds it.
- lack of a player base that likes levels larger then pedistal (WHICH SUCKS BALLS!!!)
DM GRIPES: - you can't defend yourself with the flag (helpful because too many noobs won't help get the flag and like to camp).
- hitboxes aren't as good as CTF.
- valve destroys the game with a lovely update every month.
- the nade damage is better then CTF, but still should be equal to all players.
these are the ones off the top of my head. they may be different then other peoples, and some people may like some of these things. i'm not here to dispute what makes something good and something bad, just giving my opinion. i know there are a lot of people out there that like nade jumping and say it gives a new dimention to the game, but its a turn off for me, sorry.

Agreed. Otherwise I prefer Ctf to DM. Hitboxs seem to work better, mature players.

I second everything llenta says. I'd add that I also like the movement in DM better too. I know it's kind of tweaky and glitched out, but it just feels better to me somehow. I do like CTF a lot and would probably play it more if the uberbow were in it (I know, I'm lame, but it's FUN) and if there were actually people to play against. I don't think pedestal sucks balls, but I get sick of playing it over and over again, which is what happens with CTF (ped + dirtworks = 90% of the time) It sure would be nice if 1.8 would come out already... Oh and I forgot, the rpg sucks in ctf. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

if you like the bow so much check out nites server.and the mag owns so much harder in instagib,so do physics kills.
oh and the combine sniper kicks the bows ass lol

I just would like more information on what they are planning, all I see in hl2ctf forums right now are speculations. Some media would be nice even.
I don't hate the mod, I just prefer DM. I don't really like the shotty and nade damage (you hold a nade and kill everyone aroudn you and it takes half of your life). Rocket damage is closer to splinter damage. I love the hitboxes though. The combination of nade launching and shooting while carrying the flag lets one person dominate, which is the sole reason for the "rape" rule. There need be no such thing in DM because you normally need more people with you to cap a flag.
I love the wall jumping.
I think lately, whenever I do play CTF I play in Nite's server because he did a nice job spicing the gameplay up a lot. I will go check out Tomb right now because I owe it anyway.
Just my $.02, I don't expect most to agree with me.

80% of the time I like CTF, working with a team and not taking all the credit for winning. I like the fact that when you need help killing a enemy, there can be back ups to aid you; I like to keep my deaths to a minimum. It's fun protecting your fort and avoiding enemies capturing the electric ball!
the remaining 20% is for DM, killing and just pure adrenaline; more so than CTF since everyone but yourself is the enemy. YEEE HAW! Now and again I like that thrill. Intensifies game play so much more if I am not in the mood to team DM (CTF).

Lone, sorry for any confusion. When we refer to CTF we are referring to the HL2CTF mod which you can download from www.hl2ctf.com. We even have a server for it the tomb! so go play! -elf

Oh, HAHA, I feel like such a noob  . No worries Elf, I still stand by my statement above....even though it didn't answer your question (sorry about that). But yea I will check that one out some time. For now, the Crypt Team DM and sometimes =TWC= DM is where I play on HL2DM.
