Alright so my computer crashed on Tuesday night. It would not load windows up and so I had to reinstall windows. However I lost all sound now as well as I can not use Microsoft word. Also whenever I scroll down on a web page it is really delayed. So for those of you who are also in college you know why this is such a big deal at the end of the semester. So yea I need help. I am running a 2002 Dell 4500. I know it is old and I need a new one but I just have no money right now. What can I do for my computer to at least function normal.

well i know for p4 if you use windows update for onboard sound it will mess it up big time so if you have installed that uninstall it. It sounds like you dont have the right dirvers installed for you dell. Dell is a pain in the ass when it comes to dirvers you have to make sure they are the right ones. If you get me on x-fire ill help you out.

Yeah, Shignog is probally right. What you said about scrolling down a web pages is delayed, probally beacause you do need to install the proper graphics driver, probally would of came on a CD or go to your Graphics card's website and find your card model.

For the sound, pretty much if u have all the recovery and hardware drivers CD's, you should be able to run it properly.
Yes, Shignog has to be right, whenever I use default driver, without yet installing the proper drivers of my Video card, the windows (try moving a window from one side to the next) will be slow-moving; you can pretty much see it's path of movement distinctly.  So make sure you have installed the proper drivers for the video card you have.

A Good thing to do if u don't have all resources is to go to dell.ca website, and goto support section.  You should have your service tag somewhere (got it with your Dell Dimension 4500)  the tag will find the exact drivers for your custom-build machine.  Find the service tag (a series of alphabets and numbers combined together) and then go to the link below.
Go here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=gen

Otherwise, go here if you cannot find it:  http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_4500&os=WW1&osl=EN#
(here is the list of drivers and updates for the Dell Dimenstion 4500 in general)

Hope this helps,
Good Luck

Thanks. I kinda feel dumb because all I had to do was to reinstall the drives like you guys said. My buddy told me to do that so that is what I did yesterday and everything seems to be running fine. Thanks guys
